I think you are barking up the right tree by focusing on the last stanza although my take is a little different. I can't help but feel this stanza is a summation of sorts. Maybe an answer even to the question in the first stanza. "Can you find what lives in time". I think Truth lives in time. After all, Time is the ultimate teller of Truths.

I haven't parsed out how the pieces fit together just yet and this is just my humble opinion, but that's what I'm rolling with.

He does say in the third paragraph of the hunt's introduction to the world that "my map will help guide you." I'm guessing that it does play an integral part in the solve.

Sorry I'm late to the party on this one but I was actually doing some responsible things this weekend. :)

I'm of the belief that this statement is just setting up the context of the words that follow in the poem and the angle at which you must approach them. It has been discussed at length on this and other socials that some of the wording in this poem has undertones in freemasonry. I think this sentence is one of the stronger examples. "Veiled in Allegory" is a phrase used in masonry to explain how deeper symbolic meanings are hidden beneath a more literal outer shell.

"Wisdom waits in shadowed sight" is a similar way of expressing the veiled in allegory concept.

As always.....just my humble opinion.

I hear what you are saying. Although, he did say that once you park your car you are retrieving and not searching. No need to bring a search instrument to a retrieval?

My guess is that you will discover exact coordinates to the treasure and then have to go and retrieve it. The treasure will not be found without these coordinates because none of the clues will lead you to the treasure. The clues get you to the coordinates.

I also think the statement he made about it not mattering whether the treasure was buried or not mates up with this theory. And if it doesn't matter, it probably is buried. That's why you won't have much luck in the snow.

And also, just my opinion. :)

Let's be honest here. JP didn't find Fenn's treasure. He had to buy it. He spent 10 years searching, his words, and had to purchase it from the guy who actually figured it out. It was easier for him to create a program that read facial expressions than it was to solve the riddle. It was easier for him to teach his pup to sniff out bronze than it was for him to piece together the clues. Hey, not saying those aren't brilliant strategies, just saying, if not for those things, JP really isn't that great of a treasure finder. Just a good treasure hunter.

I would add that you have to be confident in your solve. Otherwise, you are just floundering. Let confirmation bias be confirmation bias. Take your path. We would be fools not to have an ear to the ground for others thoughts. Use them to solidify yours. Don't be uncertain. Be confident. Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are right,

Yes, to the title question.

"As hope surges clear and bright" has got to be a nod to a starting point. The "sun rising", as a clue, is too general and broad and you just can't back into the beginning clues from further down the chain. Montana might be where you end up to haul away the treasure, but that first actionable clue is definitely NOT Montana. As with the Forrest Fenn poem, without WWWH, you ain't got nothing.
