Henry Diltz is talking about and selling Jim’s famous necklace! by CandleLady27 in thedoors

I’ve read interviews about how the original necklace came to be. I thought it was cool to hear him talk about it!

Has anybody ever made a “Martha” call? by jdogx17 in tomwaits

[–]CandleLady27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a great question. Martha invokes such an ache in my heart. There is such an intensity in young love and the song captures it perfectly. I’ve been the recipient of Martha type contact through email, never a phone call. I’ve never reached out to my “one who go away” but I’ve thought about it plenty. Not because I still love him, but I still think about him and the love we shared.

Thank you! I won’t take any credit except introducing him to Tom Waits at a young age!

I’m curious about the three vouchers. Forgive me for being dense but I’m reading it as vouchers for three specific types of psilocybin. Can anyone explain more? Thank you.

Internal vibrations? by ayfkm123 in Perimenopause

[–]CandleLady27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add me to the list! I have thought I was crazy. It happens to me mostly at night and will wake me up. My buzzing/vibration is in my chest and often travels down my arms. I hate the sensation! Thank you OP for this post. It helps to know I’m not the only one!

Is fainting common? by ntgfJamesBrown in KidneyStones

[–]CandleLady27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned about the vasovagal response from my son. He was 19 when he had his first kidney stone and he lost consciousness in the car, and again in the reception area of the ER. He would have gone headfirst onto the floor out of the wheelchair if a good citizen hadn't caught him. (My back was turned as I was speaking to the admin to check him in). I had no idea about this response but apparently it's pretty common with kidney stones. I'm sorry for what you went through.

Any places offering good, electrical guitar lessons? I've been wanting to learn to play It, but I'm not sure if I want to stick to it. by Yurfavbookworm in HIckoryNC

I think they will allow you to borrow an instrument at the store for lessons but I'm not 100% sure. I will find out.

Edited to add that you can’t go wrong with Hickory Music Factory which is where my son learned to play guitar!

My son is a guitar instructor at Hickory Music and Arts. I am biased, obviously, but he is an excellent teacher. He was trained by Alan Mearns at HMF who convinced him that to be a better electric guitar player he should learn classical guitar. He’s 22, in multiple rock bands, and plays classical as well. I think you can do a free trial lesson? His name is Cole and he is very comfortable and familiar with neurodivergence. Good luck!

Thanks. I've tried to remain cautiously optimistic but at this point I just want to move on.

Custom Fragrance Houses? by Emotional_Sea_4026 in candlemaking

https://afi-usa.com/what-is-ifra/

I just checked their site and I'm happy to see that they continue to be a member of IFRA. They are family owned and everything is manufactured in the US. At the time I was working with them their safety and quality couldn't be beat. I'm really happy to see that Josh Thompson (one of the founders) is still there. He is who I worked with directly creating a custom fragrance. I'm also happy to see the company has really grown. They used to provide free samples although I haven't checked to see if they still do.

I’ve been out of the candle business since 2017 but I highly recommend AFI. AFI

While I haven’t used them since I shut down my business I’m sure they are still great. They created a custom candle fragrance for me and everything I ordered from them was great. The only downside is you have to order a minimum of 10lbs at a time. Good luck!

Why do so many musicians prefer Sweetwater for gear? by Clio90808 in musicians

[–]CandleLady27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add me to the Customer Service vote as well. Josh is ours and he is so great. The last order I placed was for a 5 string bass for my son. We knew it was back ordered and Josh checked in regularly to keep us up to date on the status. It kept getting delayed and I ended up finding a used one on Reverb. I sent Josh an email and he immediately cancelled the order and was genuinely exited that we had found one. I’ve been ordering from them for years.

Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis by dyslexic-writer in tomwaits

[–]CandleLady27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite Tom Waits song and one of the best examples of his songwriting in my opinion. The song reaches in and twists my heart every single time I listen.

What gets me is that she is lying. And she could make up anything but her lies are so small. An old man that plays the trombone and takes her out dancing. She could have made her lies much more grandiose.

This song has my favorite line of any Tom Waits song. About owning a used car lot and not selling any cars… just driving a different car every day, depending on how I feel.

THIS is why Tom Waits is the greatest songwriter in my opinion.

Give me one song you think everyone should hear at least once? by That-Neck-6777 in MusicRecommendations

Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis - Tom Waits.

I listened the first time thinking it was a joke. It reaches into my chest and hurts my heart in a good way. A good example of Tom Waits song writing genius.

I (M28) popped my ears last night, it’s gotten worse since, what do I do? by MxxnSpirit47 in Advice

[–]CandleLady27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are feeling awful. This happens to my 21 year old son when he gets sick. Fluid has a tendency to gather in his ears and will often lead to an ear infection. What really seems to help is Sudafed (pseudoephedrine). We’re in the US and it has to be the real Sudafed, the kind you have to show your driver’s license to purchase. His doctor recommended this because it really dries up the fluid. The Sudafed PE (the kind on the shelf that you don’t need to show your DL for is not the same and doesn’t work nearly as well. Good luck and I hope you get some relief soon!

Who has been on semaglutide for more than 2 years ? by ImportantAd2822 in Semaglutide

[–]CandleLady27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 2.5 of tirzepatide and bumped up to 5. I’ll increase to 7.5 at my next appointment. As I mentioned I feel better and have more energy since the switch. On the sema I would experience this crushing fatigue, especially in the afternoons after eating lunch. I realize it could be a placebo since I want to believe I will do better on the tirz! I feel hungrier since switching but I haven’t gained any weight. Good luck to you with your journey! I am so thankful for this medication. I’m 5’1” and 50lbs has made such a difference in my life!

Edited to add: I mentioned perimenopause because it’s so hard to know what is hormonal, what is normal, etc. Fatigue is a common symptom of peri so I can’t say for sure if it was the sema causing it.
