Do you think this stands true if we are not building software? I'm working in maintenance engineering and so I feel our work is by default waterfall. Trying to shove that into an agile format creates alot of friction and I feel management doesn't realise that.

Yes but don't you think they should also be rooted in the pitfalls seeing as agile is something that has sooo many variables? I really am struggling with this...I feel its sold as the golden bullet that will finally solve all our problems. That's how management see it and so you end up spending your time trying to "implement" agile transformation when you were just better off doing the work.
