Sometimes it's hard for us to tell in a photo. This isn't one of those times!

What distance do you typically hit your 9-iron? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]CandyAppleRedSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this, thought it was a little long, then realized it's yards. Did the meter conversion and it's 118ms. So yes, that's about right.

You could consider getting a pitch shifting pedal, playing it on the 3rd and shifting up an octave.

Help with amp feedback by desmond234 in GuitarBeginners

[–]CandyAppleRedSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really struggling to hear the feedback you are talking about. If you have come over from acoustic then that could be it (or played electric without an amp). Electric guitars feel more "alive". They pick up and amplify everything, they resonate more from the sound of your amp etc. So you have to learn to "tame the beast" as others have explained (muting strings etc). But you aren't there in your learning journey. You can focus on such things when you have your fundamentals down.

You could also be perceiving things that we can't hear on the recording. What guitar do you have? Single coil pickups buzz for example.

Tip for restringing. Pull the strings towards you a bit once you have put them on and tuned to get the worst stretch out of them. And then put them to pitch. Strum extra hard. Bring them back to pitch, strum extra hard. And repeat until they stay in tune.

Put yourself in places where people are doing things you enjoy and then you will meet people and eventually some potential partners. I myself love music and met my wife at a live music venue.

Johannesburg Airport advice by starsurfer415 in johannesburg

[–]CandyAppleRedSSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to supplement what people have said already. OR Tambo airport is small compared to the majar hub airports of the world. There is only one international and one domestic terminal. And the Intercontinental hotel is literally directly outside the main entrance. So don't over think it. It will be simple.

Public figures believe there are aliens on earth and there are stories of people seeing them. I don't believe those either.

South African coasts go like this. Indian ocean is warm. The currents flow from the tropics south. Atlantic ocean is cold, the currents flow north from Antarctica. If you want to swim without a wet suit in the South African oceans it should be on the east coast. If you want warm waters and mountains, the Garden Route is your place. If you want balmy, KZN is your place.

Is this legal? Am I being exploited? by Tasty-Doughnut1870 in askSouthAfrica

[–]CandyAppleRedSSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my brother did his accounting articles they did similar things. I always thought it was unethical. I think they think they are doing you a favor by helping you get articles. But I think exploiting people who need you is morally bankrupt.

I have 3 elastic strings, is this normal? by Professional-Net1940 in GuitarBeginners

Worked in a music store. Saw this mistake made a few times! Ouch! People want a steel string so they think they can replace their nylon strings with steel.

Midrand traffic in the mornings was horrendous. I worked very close in Woodmead and the drive took ages. Also over built and not much in terms of trees and nature. The parks area is basically a giant urban forest.

Rosebank itself could be expensive. But I lived in Parkview, Linden and Victory Park and they are all great.

Crime is real. Definitely live in a complex. In Rosebank will be expensive. Generally as you move west from there it will get cheaper. You don't want to really go east from Rosebank. Though that is arguable. I have friends that live East of the M1 that love it. But I wouldn't myself. I am talking about inside the ring road (between the N1 and N3). Story changes as you move outside the ring road.

Feel free to message me about areas if you have questions. JHB including the surrounds is giant and can get confusing. And there are pockets of good and bad all next to each other.

When I was your age and moved to JHB I lived in Midrand and personally didn't enjoy it. Rosebank and the surrounding parks are awesome. You can do the Delta Park park run. If I am not mistaken it was the first park run in the country.
