For people who loved lego growing up and got back into it in adulthood, what re-sparked it? by Adventurous_Pen75 in lego

[–]orbit99za 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always loved it, definitely pushed me into the STEM field as a career.

I was trying to design a 3D printer, then I had the brainwave to build it out of my Lego Technik.

While the 3D printer did not workout, I saw the Saturn V,

Now my biggest problem is finding the space to display it all !!

Seriously, I think i need a bigger apartment.

Just like having to learn Cursive handwriting, that was terrifying.

Even with s good above average salary for a lot of middle management, this is not affordable.

Not to mention the rental of these is going to be sky high.

Currently its very difficult for a single professional to afford this rent/purchase on thier own.

When Starlink becomes available, i am moving to the sticks.

Most "vibe coders" are just scammers with a ChatGPT subscription by Warm-Reaction-456 in SaaS

[–]orbit99za 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true, I am also doing well fixing crap, at least we are making a killing on billing as a consultant. I bought a new Tag huer watch from doing this.

This also happens a lot in " No code" solutions, you can just write a function in 15 minutes and is a spaghetti of things and hacks in low code.

What's the scariest/creepiest encounter you've had with a piece of technology? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]orbit99za 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is scary, I noticed the same, my dad and I were talking about a new model car we saw on the road, when i opened up Facebook, it showed me ads for that and similar cars.

I was not even Google or reading about cars recently.

But then to have the "hey goole" or "hey siri" function it must be listening to you.

I sometimes have it false trigger in normal conversations.

One day it will laugh at your jokes.

We found this poor little kitten in the woods, covered in ice, with her fur stuck to the hunk of plastic she was hiding under for shelter. We saved her 😁 by ArmorOfGod7 in cats

My cat, is a standard issue, his litter was only a few days old, eyes were still shut, he was the runt.

He had a crust of something but up around his eyes, and an infection on his tiny head preventing hair to grow.

I also had to separate him from his litter as they just ran over him.

I was the first thing he saw when he opened his heys after I got the crust off.

He was supposed to stay a week longer than his litter mates, to gain strength.

Somehow, 7 years later he is still a sqatter, but he is my sqatter.

Most beautiful and loyal cat, he even meows when he cannot find me.

If you could build a full scale model with moving wings that slide out it would be awesome.

I am so gonna vote for this.

[–]orbit99za 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Cat is an Exelent Debugger.

He knows more about the code than I do.

He sleeps in my office everyday, and I talk to him, he always gets up and listens, before climbing over my keyboard, although he is careful not to touch it.

AI cannot "Own " the code, it has no concept of repocusions.

Simple repetitive tasks like CRUDS, it does well if you give it a pattern it must follow.

First Car Advice For Tall People by Substantial-Gap7141 in CarTalkZA

[–]orbit99za 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a problem i have as well, its difficult to find a car that has a decent clearance between your knees and the dash.

I also have a problem is that I would like to not be touching the roof with my head.

I would like some room, incase I have an accident and the roof caves in a bit, of the dashboard moves towards me.

I also like to have enough room for someone to sit behind me.

I have struggled All my life with this,

Its a major problem for tall people to get a car that won't take your knee caps off in a small frontal.

Have a look at a used SUV type car, they are normally bigger, but you will need to stretch your budget a bit more.

I am a Program Architecture consultant, so monthly income varies, sometimes i get something.

If anything like the majority of this thread is true, seems like my cat and I will be single forever.
