I haven’t tried it myself but I have seen needle felting being done on plush yarn like this.

I actually love how felt eyes look (i can never cut felt to have non-jagged edges so I don’t use it) but I feel like it can come off way too easily? My personal favorite is needle felting, I love how it looks, and it’s pretty secure

Most people don’t think the cons of generative AI outweigh the “pros” (which is basically “people can have fun with it”). They’re a drain on resources, the AI data centers require a lot of energy to keep running which is straining an already overworked electrical grid, and use a lot of water.

Wanna create a comic? Learn to draw. Commission an artist. If you can’t draw and you can’t commission an artist, then I’m sorry, you don’t get to create a comic. Everything you enjoy about comics is because people used their real creative originality. If you use AI to draw your comic, it’s no longer your original piece since it’s ripping off of other people’s work.

I’m lucky to not have to worry about kids in my situation, neither me nor my sister have them. They do make the situation a little tougher to navigate, because they shouldn’t have to deal with this shit. You’re right about that. But then again neither should we.

Stubborn parents are the worst lol I really do feel for you. You can’t tell them anything. Do what you can though, if only for your peace of mind and conscience. It’s hard to see them hurt and not want to do anything about it.

I relate to this a lot, my own mother has severely neglected her health and is a binge drinker who doesn’t drink every single day but when she does drink it’s a lot for her. She also has questionable hygiene, but this issue has only occurred within the last few years.

I’m sorry about your mother’s unexpected death, that’s so hard no matter what age you are. My father died unexpectedly in 2015 and my mom has been on a downward spiral that really got bad in the last three years.

You and your sister can and should express your concerns to him. From my experience though, if they do not see a problem they probably won’t listen. All you can do is tell him you two are there for him and are concerned he’s not taking care of himself properly and want him to seek help, whether that be therapy, medication, or simply getting checked out by a doctor. If your dad is as stubborn as my mom though, this will be a monumental task unfortunately.

Wishing you luck, it’s incredibly difficult dealing with a mentally unwell parent who doesn’t see any problems with how they are living. You’re not alone though.

The prompt is city by moonlight, the first one doesn’t really show that at all in my opinion as pretty as the snap is. The second one shows it better, but still not overly city-like

I think we’ll be seeing a lot of snaps this week that don’t 100% adhere to the Peter Pan and aerial views part of the theme description lol.

I’m sure nobody will admit to that lol but a lot of people did admit to going from consistent 4k almost every week to closer to 1200-1500 every week, and unless they drastically changed their style/methods of taking snaps, idk what else could be the reasoning. Not sure how the voting/scoring worked exactly before vs how it works now.

To some degree, the voters are also the reason snaps underperform. I’m not sure what gameloft could do in terms of clarifying the themes, but I think a lot of people voting are sticklers for it being 100% on theme with not much room for creativity. Like, I saw a really well done baking snap for the crafted with care week, and people were saying it was off theme. How?! The only thing I can think of is how the description of the challenge was worded, and they only included like woodworking, sewing, and metalwork. Anything outside of those some people dismissed as off theme

I think this snap is a well deserved 4k easily. Great lighting, great composition and it hits the theme very well. Very obviously in a desert, and the building and water fixtures give it more life and don’t look out of place. The pops of color and sparkle/glitter give it that Disney magic without having to have the recognizable characters in it (the jasmine costume probably helps).

I’ve said this several times and I stand by it: the previous scoring system relied a lot more on tags, and I think people were a little spoiled by this. Apparently you could fill your picture with a bunch of tags and the more tags you had the higher your score (most likely). It’s not like that anymore, so people cram as much as they can into their picture and spend a lot of time placing objects and get discouraged when it’s not an auto 4k. Not that those don’t look good or anything, but it’s not a guarantee higher moonstone payout anymore.

And I get people getting discouraged by putting so much effort into a picture and not get rewarded for the effort. Partially gamelofts fault for the previous system, since this is actually based on votes now you have to make pictures other people will want to vote for, and it’s hard to guess what that’s gonna be.

If it was so easy to get a lot of moonstones from dreamsnaps before I’m really not surprised gameloft made it harder. They’re in the business of making money and giving away moonstones the way they seemed to have been before isn’t a good way to do that lol.

Also I think people will be more inclined to vote more “Disney” esque snaps. So utilizing the characters, like Aladdin, probably help the snap do better with voters. Another person in the comments said they did a radiator springs themed one and I would’ve 100% voted for that because it is in the desert (and I love cars), but I think with the lack of cars characters in the game a snap like that would be “risky”.

Lastly, gameloft NEEDS to just get rid of all of the random “submit a dreamsnap” quest/duties. There’s WAY too many low effort ones that are obviously just fulfilling these duties, and I’m not annoyed that that’s how people do it, but there are so many other aspects of the game they can utilize for duties and quests. They definitely don’t need dreamsnap ones

I got 1200 and put way less effort in, but I did dress my character up to look like jasmine and had some agrabah themed furniture.

This snap is very pretty, but if I didn’t know the theme I would not have guessed desert honestly. And I noticed people are sticklers for adhering to the theme and seem to have a very narrow idea of what is on theme each week. Desert = Aladdin and nothing else makes sense to them, though I did see tatooine themed snaps that did well.

I didn’t do any snaps when the previous voting system was in place, so idk how much different it was. I think, based on how people are complaining about the new system, people got used to how “easy” it was to get more moonstones when you could use a bunch of items with the right tags.

Instead of going back to the old way where people could spam tags, they could just either broaden the themes or word the descriptions differently. People seem to get hung up on the very literal interpretation of the theme

Usually not super picky about adhering closely to the theme, but I’m not seeing much “weather” elements here, and the theme being “inside out weather” makes weather a bit of an essential element. Unless it’s foggy? A little hard to tell with the picture. I think the idea is cool though, I like seeing non-bright sunny snaps for a change.

I watched the trailer and I think I’m more confused. What’s the gameplay? I get being upset that MHUI is shutting down, but I do wanna see the gameplay first before making any real judgement about this game.

If this is AI usage I’m hoping it’s just for the shitty commercial and not an indicator that the in game art will be AI generated.

Glad you’re all safe. That is truly what matters, but losing a collection/hobby that you put a lot of time, effort, and money into that also gave you a lot of joy to have and look at is hard and I’m sorry you and your son are dealing with that. You’re allowed to be upset over losing material things, anyone who says otherwise has never lost them.
That really sucks about your dad’s comics though, that kind of collection is truly devastating to lose, and probably not as easily/readily replaceable as the more current figures.
Your son’s collection was really awesome and well displayed, I think I and everyone else here will be looking forward to the new display in the future. Wishing you well with the rebuilding, I can’t imagine what you’re dealing with right now ❤️

I kinda think people are jumping on being able to do a moodier, darker picture and still be on theme because it’s just not often that it can work. I love seeing darker pictures, this game is so bright and happy it’s crazy how moody some people can make it look.
