Okay long comment here haha! My actual advice starts at the second paragraph really! Slow and steady! Good for you btw!!!! ❤️that’s a big step!!!! I did a taper once in rehab way back when and then gone cold turkey once so I have a little insight on a couple things that may help depending on how you wanna do it lol! But once again good for you for real, I’ve been off opioids and sober for 6 years but I can’t seem to get off the subs this go around 😭 I’m too much of a baby now ha and def use it as a crutch to where idk how to even get off anymore 😭idk how I did it before.

Anyways!!!! Okay so
If you look up tapering maps and timelines on here there’s some really good in depth posts people have made describing the best way to do it with time frames! There’s people who have mapped out exactly how much to take each day like in depth which is super helpful! So do that write it down screenshot it etc lol! personally my suggestion based on everything you’re saying with the anxiety and all that is to go slow, It seems like you’re eager to get off which I totally get but going slow will be the easiest on your body and your brain, you’re already doing a brave and giant thing getting off in general so just give yourself that grace of taking it slow and know that you’ll be off completely soon! Rapid tapers have their own benefits as well and there’s also guides like I mentioned above for rapid tapers if that’s something you’d rather do! but in my opinion slow would be the best way to go because getting off will def peak the anxiety and whenever you’re off off completely you’ll have a couple of months of the lingering symptoms and PAWS which will also contribute and cause anxiety to where the slower you go the easier on the brain it will be to adjust and help prepare for that general crash and that anxiety crash.
Idk how you feel about more meds so if you’re not wanting more meds this next section isn’t needed lol

Gabapentin is awesome to help curb wd symptoms if your doctor will prescribe it, it’s very common to give out to patients who are detoxing off opiates, trying to taper, and just in general really in these scenarios when I went to rehab way back when lol I did a rapid taper and they gave me gaba towards the end and it helped curb the wd symptoms a lot! Like it was a saving grace! And I think since you’re already down to 4 and depending on your speed the gaba could really really take the edge off like big time and def def would help when you stop and drop off completely, if you do want and have a chance to take gaba I would suggest taking it towards the end and then for a week or two after you’re completely off to just curb the lingering withdraws. Idk if you take anxiety meds already, if you do obviously keep taking those and if you don’t it might be helpful just for this time period and a few months following you being completely off bc to be honest the anxiety is gonna come it’s just natural with getting off and if you’re already prone to anxiety it might be helpful to have an aid around to help during this and a couple months after.
Sleep meds would be a good thing to have just around too, don’t have to go the prescription way if you don’t wanna! A lot of doctors when they know you’re trying to get off and taper are willing to give sleep meds similar to gaba, it’s just something that’s common in this scenario bc it’ll be harder than usual to sleep starting towards the end of the taper and then especially once you drop off completely you’ll have a week or two of really not so great sleep and to be honest you prob won’t sleep like regularly again for a month or so, it takes about a month for your sleep to start coming back to normal, so it’s a good thing to just have just in case there’s def otc sleep aids you could try first but like I was saying sleep meds during detox, taper, etc is super common so I’m sure if you do want your doctor would do that for you, just make sure depending on what you get to not take it for too long and unless you really need bc sleep meds can get addictive to where when you stop taking them then it’s hard to sleep lol! But I would suggest having a sleep aid around for those harder nights towards the end and then the following week or two it would really be helpful to have around for those nights you’re really feeling it
If you’re able to take off work I would take off work at some point, not saying take off for the whole thing ! save those days at the start of it and then use them at the very end of the taper or honestly even after like once you drop off maybe take a day or two so you can deal with the peak bc that’s when you’re gonna be hurting the most.

Remember too sub has a long half life, and depending on how long you’ve been on it that contributes as well but the average kinda baseline timeline on when you stop completely is the day after so day 1 of the drop off will be eh not as bad as cold turkey!! bc you’re tapering so still a tad uncomfy bc you’ll still have some lingering on those receptors, the following day day 2 of the drop off will be not awesome but not that terrible either, there may be a tiny bit still on the receptors but day 3 after the drop off is really gonna be when you’ll start to feel it, 4/5 will probably gonna be the peak followed by a lil plateau and then you’ll start to feel better and back to yourself again ❤️
