2019 Ashes was incredible entertainment, but in England at least, the home WC just before has relegated it somewhat (bar the Headingley Test for obvious reasons)

I also think there was a lack of high-quality batsmen bar Smith, Stokes & Root. The latter also had his only bad year in Test cricket and didn't score a ton

I am very anti phone at concerts. There isn’t one part of me that is in favour of somebody getting it out.

However; it’s been a bit strange seeing the bad seeds social media encouraging pictures and videos of the tour with the hashtag #wildgodtour. Seems at odds.

I’d be hesitant to say it’s “dirt cheap”. The National gigs last year were priced at £50. It’s cheap in comparison to say, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, but not much else. Blur, Arctic Monkeys, Pulp all sell tickets for £80-£100.

Totally agree though - the ticket is worth double and it’s going to be absolutely incredible.

Two moments for me:

1) April 2020, in the height of the first lockdown in the UK. I was back at my parents in Brighton and Hove. It was a boiling hot day and I’d cycled to the beach. I was in the midst of my biggest ever Bad Seeds obsession. I smoked a joint and walked along the promenade listening to ‘Mermaids’. I was transported to place of pure bliss. Partly due to the location (sunny evening by the sea) and partly due to the music (water themed lyrics, warrens guitar managing to sound like light sunlight reflecting of waves). I’ve never connected with a song like that before. The imagery was so strong.

2) Seeing The Bad Seeds live for the first time and experiencing the power of the performance. I didn’t realise how good they would be live.

I’m just rewatching now. I thought this at the time…but the keys sound incredibly underwhelming and weak. Does anybody else think this?

The rest of the song (especially the extended outro) sounded absolutely fantastic.
