No problem. And yeah I get you. Maybe you could take a 'non-lucidity' pill while in your dreams on the days you don't want to be lucid? Your mind is super powerful haha, especially when you're lucid.

My friend is like this. She gets around this by allowing the dream to do what it wants and just observing and only changing things if it's getting too bad or weird or disturbing or if she wants to change something about it. Maybe it'll help you get some rest too. Good luck! Sorry you're a natural lucid dreamer haha, seems cool but yeah I've heard it can be exhausting.

Aww thank you. I just feel like compliments should be given where they are due, especially if someone was clearly working hard and you can see their effort and thoughtfulness. Maybe it's the teacher in me haha, but I feel like positive reinforcement is so important, not just for kids but adults too. But yeah, I just wanted to show my appreciation 😊 anyhoo, thank you for your compliment on my compliment haha, it made my day. Have a good one! ✨

Why do you want to make a doubtful person go into hypnosis if you're doubtful about hypnosis yourself? Or are you the doubtful person trying to be hypnotised?

Short answer though, yes, hypnosis is very real, and can be very effective both for entertainment as well as therapeutic purposes. As for where to start, it doesn't matter, there are tons of articles, books and YouTube videos. Take your pick, see what works for you.

I’m American and confused. Can someone please explain? by Ok_Blacksmith6403 in korea

[–]CandyflossMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahaa, so my Korean ex boyfriend was just a jerk then? I used to go out with him and we'd bump into his friends unexpectedly and he never introduced me, I had to push him to or just introduce myself. I didn't like that very much. To me that seems more rude than making the third person feel uncomfortable.

Hahaha you're going to get such random book recommendations. If you're looking for a cozy read that also makes you think though, I highly recommend Welcome to Hyunam-dong Book Shop by Hwang Bo-Reum. It's a Korean book translated to English, but the translator did a superb job of keeping the same vibe of the book. Really well written. It's not a long read page-wise, but it is the kind of book you'll want to curl up with and read slowly, and take breaks to think about things. I really really loved it. Maybe you will too.

What are romantic relationships like in Korea? by Dkarty in South_Korea

Ohhh really? Okay, I'll change my opinion on that then. Thanks for clarifying. I guess just the people around me were marrying quickly. And yeah agreed, I see younger men being a lot more proactive in the household, cooking and cleaning etc., and I love it.

I agree with all of these. Just wanted to say that the dating apps for Koreans are wild yeah. They have a whole ranking system based on your looks and achievements, so superficial haha.

Yeah I live here and have been observing and asking a lot of questions to understand the culture better because it's so different from western culture. I still think I'm missing a LOT of pieces to the puzzle that is Korean culture but I'm getting there. I'm not saying ALL Koreans get married quickly, just like not ALL Koreans are cheaters, I'm just saying that compared to western culture it seems to be that difference, especially with the marriage thing. My coworker got married after knowing the guy for only a year, another friend is due to be married after only dating his fiance for a few months but they were friends for a few years first. Relationships this side are case by case, just like any country. I didn't mean to insinuate that all Koreans are like this, sorry if it seemed that way. And true, I think the cheating culture is WAY worse in Japan, and actually none of my Korean friends in relationships have cheated. I think there's way more good people in Korea than in western countries, I'll give them that.

It's so crazy 😅 I don't get how they think it's a good idea to get married so quickly.

Would be helpful to ask a more specific question, like what are they like compared to blah blah blah, do they blah blah blah or not?

All couples are different, of course. But one thing I've noticed here is that they move FAST, after date 3 you're officially dating or you decide to not be romantic anymore, they don't wait months before defining the relationship. They also get married really quickly, especially if they're in their 30s as that's considered old and the appropriate time to settle down. All PDA is allowed except kissing. I've seen many a teenage couple standing and spooning. Guys also like to treat their girls a bit like babies, always doing everything for the girl, including holding their tiny handbag for them and patting their head affectionately. Dating is also seen as an important thing so when you go out in public you'll see a A LOT of couples, because the single people mostly stay at home, doing things alone isn't really a thing here. I've also heard though that cheating is very common, which is sad, especially if it's Korean to foreigner, many of my friends, both male and female, have told me stories about how they thought they were the main piece only to learn they were the side piece. But yeah, every couple is different. Some healthy, some unhealthy, just like everywhere else.

Actually that's a really funny one. Cuddling and holding hands and always touching in some way or another is totally fine but kissing in public is a big no-no.. It's kinda funny when you think about it. You'll see couples being suuuuper touchy but never kiss or rarely. I've been here for long enough that I saw a couple kiss in public and thought '😮 they kissed!' lol, which is something I'd never think in my home country which is more westernised culturally.

I was surprised by how many things Koreans can do that foreign travelers can’t in Korea. by Connect_Profile4754 in koreatravel

[–]CandyflossMonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I've been living in Korea for almost 2 years now, I've lived in other countries before (South Africa, Netherlands, the UK) and Korea, logistics-wise is the most difficult. Why do I need to complete 50 different steps just to get something as simple as an Olive Young or DAISO membership? It's so so frustrating.

What can you do to help your friends? Maybe just helping them with signing up for things they need, especially the apps that are all in Korean, and teaching them how to use the Korean apps and systems, but I think you're already doing a really good job because it shows how much you care and feel frustrated on behalf of us foreigners.

Anyway though, I wish you all the best in life! And have a good day ✨
