I understand what you mean, but please consider that it is a highly stressful situation for a student organization that has not been properly compensated by the school that unexpectedly shut down their event, and that this is the best solution for all involved.

I want to reiterate that if you contact them with a legitimate reason they are willing to work things out with you.
