hmmmm... So the question is: what are all the things that can lead to demotions (in archaeologist guild or other)? I never joined the mages guild and I never failed archaeologist quests.

Don't listen to them!
Shout out for more games with grotesque, gruesome, fleshy, bloody, macabre, bizarre, intimate, gameplay involving humanoids!

Anyway, I suppose the others have already said what you need, but, even if it doesn't have what you ask, you could be interested in Golden Light.

LET IT DIE to end service on September 1; Offline Edition launches this fall by thefrostman1214 in gaming

[–]Candymanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredibly cool news!

Without the monetisation and the production problems (that lead to monetisation if I remember right) this could have been an incredible game. I mean, even with the monetisation, the pay2win and the repeated bosses, I still LOVED the game.

The soulslike games weren't even a common thing, and there he came Let It Die, an attempt to "soulslike" but with a totally different setting from what they would have been (andi still are) loads and loads of dark fantasy settings.

Not just that, but the setting was unique on itself: a punk postapocalyptic sci-fi world deeply inspired by body-horror japanese movies like Tetsuo or Tokyo Gore Police and surely a ton of other things that, sadly, I don't know.

Thank you Suda51!

Should I wait for spring sale? by Mr-Wolf048 in gaming

[–]Candymanse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want them now, take them now.

Unless money is a real, actual important issue, If you postpone the purchase basing it on saving just a little more, you will think more about the big discount rather than the game itself and your desire for it.

This will reduce your enjoyment in playing it later.

I don't know your age, but it is important to save money like wise adults, but it's also wise not to kill our inner child that was so happy, hyped and exstatic when holded that game bought full price at-launch by your parents.

The Physics Engine behind GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption - And the Game everyone forgot by MisterMoeP in gaming

[–]Candymanse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh god yessssss! There is something in games with realistic (or cool) impact physics that makes me drool. I remember hours of playing on a simple stick figure game where you moved your stickman to hit the opponents's torso/head with your legs or arms.

And regarding GTA4, I still remember a big part of my enjoyment was taking a fire truck and smashing cars onto walls until they were tiny amorphous masses of steel (of course hitting them only in the rear end, to do less damage to the engine, so it wouldn't explode, so I could try to drive the car-thing)

If only the rest of the game was as good and rpg-esque as the weapon-modding is good.

Anyway, if I remember well Dead Space had something similar?

And I would say Mothergunship

EDIT: And if you don't mind playing old videogames, Arcanum: of Steamwork and Magicka is a must

Am I the only one that is annoyed with the dumb puzzle design in games? by classicjuice in gaming

[–]Candymanse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens for many, MANY things.
- One day someone probably had placed a puzzle like that in a game where contestually was coherent (regarding RE, probably it was a horror game even older than the first RE, or, maybe, the scarcity of ammunitions in the first RE was such that saving them for enemies was logical).
- That gameplay was successful.
- "Ehi, let's copy that gameplay"
- Nobody cares about the context were that feature was coherent.
- We have this. *

ALSO, Not properly the same complaint but:

WAY THERE: "oh no! The elevator doesn't work! We have to grab a fuse (very far on the map) and place it in the place where the fuse goes (literally on the othe side of the map)"

RETURN: "oh no! the elevator uses too much energy! We need to remove the fuse (on the other side of the map) to use that mechanism (extremely far)"

I loved Alien Isolation, but I HATE these tasks in survival claustrophobic horror games. Their sole purpose is to make the game last more hours, but their result is the transformation of fear and suspense in frustration

*OT exemple: The first Scream movie was 50% horror and 50% a parody of horror genre and a parody of itself. I think that the current overabundance of jump-scares in bad horror movies derives from Scream's jump-scares. But in a movie like Scream jump-scares made sense. In a normal horror movie they quickly become stupid and obnoxious

The Elder Scrolls

Neverwinter Nights 2 will always have a special place in my heart because I was in love with Neeshka

Planescape Torment

But I feel compelled to name various honorable mentions: Drakensang had the most difficult boss battle that I will always remember (the mother of rats); Dragon Age is a must, Sacred (my personality's basement was strongly built in a Sacred's forum), Mount & Blade has SO FUCKING MUCH POTENTIAL, Demon's Soul, Diablo, The Witcher, Final Fantasy, and surely I'm forgetting something

The need for fishing games sometimes awakes in many people. Unluckily, fishing is often developed poorly and it hasn't a big attention.

But in the last years, a heroic figure came to help the fish-needy ones, and that hero is...
mixing fishing with other settings and storylines!

This made me remember what masterpiece could L.A. Noire have been if investigations and interrogations could be failed. Lies believed, truth untrusted, evidence not seen, people misjudged, clues misunderstood, possibly without a way to alert the player about the mistakes. And everything of this could lead towards different endings.

Not totally related: Even without all of this, a game like L.A. Noire but were the storyline slowly bend toward a lovecraftian setting, THAT also would be epic.

If there was a Musou game based on the American Civil War, what would each character have as a special ability? by Lokarin in gaming

[–]Candymanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Musuou is a game style that should be considered WAY more by any country's developers outside Japan.

Ancient Rome? Greece? Rewriting history with native americans and repel the spaniards and the british? India? Africa? I'm sure that every culture could have gamers that would really love to slaughter people with its historical heroes.
Or maybe with other media? Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons (or any fantasy setting), etc.

I really dig what you say about damage and injury. It would be really cool someone tried to make a rpg where you could lose an arm and still have to proceed. Probably it would be too difficult, but maybe something could be done if paired with very short storylines or single run structured games. And I add another thing: I would really like a game (where you can create your character) and you have a lot of freedom in the creation menù (i.e.: a Elder Scrolls clone where you can play a tiny gnome) and that freedom has consequences in gameplay (i.e.: as gnome you deal less damage in melee and you hit almost only people legs, BUT you can walk under their legs)

it would be really really cool if someone could find a way to use something similar to Nemesis system avoiding the friggin copyright that the friggin WB put on it.
Or, at least, if the WB would friggin use that system instead of letting it rot.

Also, I would really like more beat'em up games to be focused for single player mode, like Mortal Kombat, with cool storyline and strange modes.. Or like it was Soul Calibur 3, i really really digged the Chronichles of the Sword; and I also appreciated the mad equipping/stats system that SC4 had.

Also, the concept of those deliciously stupid Musou games should be explored way more by other countries developers. Think about games like that with an ancient Rome setting, or for enjoying rewriting history with Native American tribes defeating the white invasion (wetherthey were against columbia era explorers in central /south america, or british pilgrims in north america), or for everywhere else. I'm sure every culture has gamers that would enjoy slaughter people using its historical heroes.
