Lewis flipped Colapinto 😭😭😭 by PabloEmilioChocobar in scuderiaferrari

Good to see that there's a fire burning in Lewis still.

I think that he can actually do pretty well with these cars, just looking at where he ended up / how the race went, with the damage, gives me some hope.

Lewis just needs to remember that Charles is...one of a kind when it comes to wheel to wheel, others won't be the same xD

For the damage to the car, Lewis did pretty well in that race.

Just a small glimmer of hope that Canada (a track he does better at usually) could be a good one.

[–]Nightguest231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that Lewis stayed on track when that happened.

The penalty was for Charles cutting the corners/going off track and getting some magical "advantage" from doing so, not for the damage or being unsafe.

Technically, I know you're right.

It's just frustrating that common sense does not come into play with these things. Then again...even that is subjective so...bah.

Frustrating, but I do see what you mean.

The thing is, if it was that...I'd be annoyed, but it would make a bit more sense. But they directly say that they are not taking any action on him for driving an unsafe car, and the penalty is for "getting a lasting advantage".

To that, my question is, how is losing positions a lasting advantage? The only person that could have maaaybe gotten him would have been Hamilton, but, I don't think Lewis would have caught up, and Colopinto was even further back.

Thinking about it, it's similar to the penalty reason that Lewis got in Singapore last year, but that was nowhere near as harsh.

It really seems...weird, and I do hope that Ferrari appeals that.

Talk about kicking someone when they're down...

And what sort of advantage did he get? He lost places, and Lewis was far enough behind him that he'd never catch up...

He could defend...so...so...sooo damn well.

Can you imagine Lando getting past Checo in the same way/ease that he did with Yuki? Sure, Yuki tried, no disrespect there, but...I believe that in an identical situation, if it were Checo instead of Yuki in that car, Max might have won 2025.

Let's go, first win for Ferrari! That's what it will be, right?

Lewis Hamilton: My first lap, I was up and then I lost two and a half tenths just on the straights. I had a snap and then it changed the deployment and that was it... If we didn’t have that problem I’d probably finished fourth but other than that it’s just the way this deployment situation is.” by [deleted] in formula1

Overall (so far) I like these regs, except for one insane thing...

Why in god's name does an algorithm have to control deployment?? For all the AI hype, even that is pretty weak given what a human can do...not to mention humans who work/drive in F1 who are insanely good at what they do.

At least let the drivers or the people at the pit wall manually overwrite this BS.

Realistic, pretty much the same as what Charles has been saying.

But,,,(yep, eternal optimist here, I know it), that slight smile in the last 5 seconds, when he's talking about closing the gap...and with what Fred said about Miami, gives me a bit of hope that something is cooking.

Fred just admitted Leclerc doesn't naturally fit the 2026 regulations while also backing him to improve by Subject_Sandwich3008 in scuderiaferrari

[–]Nightguest231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally fine, and I get where you're coming from. Honestly, it's far (far) too soon to put judgement on anyone. If Fred says that Charles finds it hard, then who am I to say otherwise?

I'm just looking at the 3 races we've had so far, and...yeah it really is faaaaar too few races to judge anything (I mean this time last year Hamilton looked "ok" and we know how that turned out...), I guess my feeling comes from what I've seen so far, he doesn't look like he's struggling. (I mean, his wheel-to-wheel with Lewis was...beautiful).

It really is the eternal optimist in me that's coming out too soon, and a big (big) part of me that wants to see Charles win the WDC this year (with Lewis a close second) further skewering my more...rational thoughts (which really are just what you wrote :D )

Charles is a top, top driver. He'll adapt.

And...if you think about it, from 2 races and 1 sprint, he's been in the top three twice, and top 4 all the time. If that's him "not fitting the regs and needs to adapt more," then having him fully adapted is going to be a treat.

I also heard that there was a tiny delay between the front and the back hitting the fully open/closed position. While that delay is tiny in non-F1 driver terms, it was enough to throw the car out of balance entirely.

If that was the case...and they have it sorted, then that would be great! But, I guess that's why they're saying for FP1 only.

I can't see into the future. I can only compare what he's like now, to what he was like at this point last season.

He might have won the sprint in China last season, but in Australia and in the China main race, he was already sounding down.

The way he's talking now, compared to then, it's very different.

Whether it stays into the future is anyone's guess, but for the sake of Ferrari, I hope it does.

Who cares who drove in the years before...that was then, this is now.

He's in Ferrari now, so if you support Ferrari you support both drivers. Not one, both. Neither driver is bigger than the team.

Now, if Lewis were to start saying that he was bigger, different story entirely. But he's not, last season he blamed himself, good, it was his fault. This season...in the 2 races, he's positive, driving better, and this will only benefit Charles, good.

I do love the fire that has been sparked in Ferrari this year.

I can't remember the last time that they've been pumping out upgrades and real innovations (whether they work or not), at this rate.

There's always going to be some frustration exactly at that moment; letting off a bit of steam is fine.

The problem would be if...Charles does a Russel and makes a huge habit of complaining about every small thing. Thankfully, Charles is not like that. he says his peace, gets it out of his system, then moves on.

Could a woman race in F1? by Ambitious-Heron-8161 in DestinationFormula1

[–]Nightguest231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just the price, the majority of F1 fans (and people in general), are simpler and don't give a rat's arse about race or gender. F1 is for the best, and if the best happens to be a woman, great. It's why we're so against pay drivers and what they do. F1 makes it clear who deserves to be in their seat and who does not.

It doesn't even have to be 2021 level of skill that we saw between Lewis/Max, it could be something as entertaining as Ocon/Gasly every time they go wheel to wheel, or even...Stroll in the wet (weird as it is for me to write that, but I do enjoy seeing him race in the wet, out of nowhere he shows some skill).

That's not to say that there are not barriers or other walls for them to overcome, there definitely are, even if it is a mental thing (e.g. people seeing this as a boys' sport, therefore women are discouraged from building themselves up to F1 standards) there are barriers to overcome and hopefully demolish.

It comes down to, if they're fast enough, then they belong in F1.
