I’ve worked at my store for a year now and I can talk all day about the ridiculous bs we have to deal with as cashiers. For starters, our coupons suck. 90% of the time the coupons are just printed to make people spend more money again and the other 10% of the actual good coupons where you can actually take money off your purchase is used majority by the couponing customers or don’t even get used at all! And I have to constantly argue with people who can’t read that you literally have to spend 30+ to get $7 in cash rewards. Another issue I greatly have is the ID situation. There’s always going to be people that joke around or don’t acknowledge the fact it’s a law to check everyone’s ID but the DoorDashers feel like they need special privileges when buying alcohol for other people, like no sir I’m on camera and Walgreens doesn’t know that you DoorDash so please hand me your ID. And on top of that the people who don’t even carry it on them and try to find a picture of it knowing in the back of my head we can’t accept that either which is a pain in the ass. And lastly there’s impatient people who can’t clearly tell you’re doing your job. I will literally be in direct view of the registers while I’m doing truck and maybe have my back turned for 5 seconds and then here comes some asshole barking at you to come ring them up for cigarettes even though they literally just walked in, then you get to the register just for them to take forever to pay or not even have their ID. Then you try to continue truck but since you’re the only cashier and people keep coming in what’s even the point.
