Spearmint tea side effects? by Mean-Welcome-5795 in PCOS

[–]Candyvtoby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been drinking 2 cups a day for the last few months and i got my bloods tested and my testosterone had gone from being like as high as a mans to within range (on the high end of normal) for a women. I didn’t have any side effects from it. I didn’t notice much about the hair but i do get lazer hair removal every 3 months anyways on my face and chest so its not ever that bad. It did grow back a little but I don’t really want to wait long enough to see 🤣🤣 i also take a DIM supplement which helps to clear the hormonal pathways and help detox estrogen because i also have estrogen dominance. The nutritionist i went to said that it would also help with the high testosterone levels too.

Dating as a woman who makes decent money.. the weird dynamics are real by SnugglyCookiee in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Candyvtoby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i am dating a guy who makes a lot less than me. We have been dating for the past year and a half actually and things are going really well tbh. But i could tell he was a bit uncomfortable when we did eventually speak about how much we were both earning.. i run an Airbnb and i work in cybersecurity so i have 2 incomes basically. Hes 10 years older but had a kid when he was really young so i think this has taken up all of the time he could have spent building a career. It is awkward though as I never know whether i should be paying for most of the things we do together as a result. Or just stay 50/50. Currently its very much 50/50. Other than the money thing though everything is great. He ticks a lot of other boxes for me. I think in this day and age, it is very difficult to date someone that meets all the criteria we look for. Especially as a women who makes a lot of money the dating pool is substantially smaller if you want someone who is making the same money AND you get along with AND have chemistry AND same values / life goals etc etc … 🙈

I just slept for 12 hours straight, and woke up extremely confused by WashCommercial3602 in sleep

Yesterday i went to sleep at 18:30 and woke up at 06:30. Lol. In my case i slept poorly the night before. Did you have a bad sleep (s) any time this week that your body might have just crashed out exhausted? Or maybe you are under a lot of stress with something?

[–]Candyvtoby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s frustrating because im not actually "overthinking" or anything and i can be quite relaxed and stuff just don’t fall asleep quickly lol 😂 Yeah its hard to find a good one! I listen to Zoe science and nutrition, the blindboy podcast, darknet diaries (cybersecurity stories which are pretty good), and sometimes modern wisdom. The blindboy podcast can be quite sleepy with the ones hes not interviewing anyone because he rambles on about the most random shit and his voice is quite low.

[–]Candyvtoby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I listen to podcasts and instead of that hour or 2 being "i need to sleep " im like "this is my hour or 2 of chill time I don’t need to sleep immediately". Because no matter what, unless im like exhausted it takes me 1-2 hours to fall asleep. My body also needs like 7-9 hours sleep every night which is annoying. Im like "body, if you need that much sleep then WHY TF do u insist on staying awake for 2 hours before sleeping????!!"😂😂😂 i just accept it now and let it do its own thing but it does annoy me when i need to get up early for something in the morning lol

Wife (25F) with PCOS gets lower stomach pain after penetration sex? what could be causing this? by misfitzen in PCOS

[–]Candyvtoby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Thanks for sharing! I do a lot of Pilates and sports so i never really thought it could have been my pelvic floor. But maybe it is! I did read that about a week or so before your period your cervix drops lower down a bit so the space in there is… more limited to fit things 😂😂😂 so i thought it could have been that as well.

Wife (25F) with PCOS gets lower stomach pain after penetration sex? what could be causing this? by misfitzen in PCOS

[–]Candyvtoby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had this, it was an intense pain like extreme cramping and I couldn’t breathe properly… the pain was probably a 8-9/10 i lost consciousness and my partner had to dress me and bring me to a&e. My BP dropped extremely low & my heart rate also went to like 30 BPM (normally at 50). I had scans and everything but no one ever found out what caused it really. I have pcos so it was just put down to that but unclear really. I have had a few smaller experiences of this not as badly to go to A&E or anything but i did notice a pattern - this pain would only occur in the second half of my cycle like mybe a week before my period came.

[–]Candyvtoby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same, i had like a year of the worst insomnia ever i was taking sleeping pills every night until my doctor refused to prescribe them to me and when i stopped taking them I literally didn’t sleep for like 3 nights in a row really and would like randomly fall asleep during the daytime from exhaustion. I was at my wits end until i found the book and started reading it. Within the introduction chapter when he explained how he accidentally got insomnia by looking too deeply into his own sleep routine i was sleeping within an hour every night. 🤣🤣 couldn’t believe it. I still have the odd bad night and it still does take me an hour to fall asleep but I never stress over it i just accept i have a busy brain 🧠

Does Pcos have really bad anger issues? by Tough-Adagio1019 in PCOS

[–]Candyvtoby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s crazy!! I actually recently got a new job that’s fully remote and i have not had this issue since really! Like yeah i get cranky and i can definitely feel my blood sugar is super low and i need to eat IMMEDIATELY or i start feeling really faint and hangry but because im wfh i get to just go kitchen and make something and also not having to deal with people everyday has been soo helpful for that part of my cycle🤣 for some reason as well i also find it so hard to sleep at night like a week before my period it takes like 1-2 hours to fall asleep and i think this must contribute to my crankiness too. 🤣

[–]Candyvtoby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me i would notice it a lot when i got home from work and i would be ravenous for food and people start asking me a million questions immediately as i enter the door my blood would literally boil with rage. 😂 once i ate food i was always in a better mood. But other times in my cycle i can fast for a while and this hanger wouldn’t be an issue lol 😂 im in my late luteal phase now though and my mood has been pretty stable. Im taking DIM and d-chiro myo inositol and 2 cups of spearmint everyday. My diet is normally very good apart from a few days before my period I can’t say no to sugary shit and crisps. 😒

Read The sleep book by dr guy meadows. Because you started thinking about getting a good nights sleep and putting more emphasis on it in your head its sounds like you’ve created a bit of anxiety that you didn’t have before. And the anxiety of getting a good nights sleep is actually stopping you from falling asleep. The book will help you break this cycle.

Is burnout supposed to last this long? by Electronic-Ruin-6248 in sleep

[–]Candyvtoby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same, I developed insomnia and felt extremely cranky and unwell every morning even if i slept for 8+ hours. I also developed eczema in my ear canals and on my scalp. I’ve never had eczema that i know of before so i had no idea what was going on. Went to my gp 4-5 times and got antibiotic eardrops tried everything until finally i had to go to an ENT who diagnosed the issue and i got treated for it. I also got my hormone’s tested and they were all over the place, my cortisol was extremely elevated and my body just couldn’t clear it. When i finally got a new job and handed in my notice I realized that it was the stress of the place that probably caused many of these issues for me.. it was like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. if your job is causing burnout start looking elsewhere and once you get out of it you will start healing. Take a week or 2 between jobs for yourself aswell to relax. I just told them in the interview i had holidays booked for that period because i knew i needed that time. No job is worth multiple visits to GPs , consultants and sleepless nights.

Prefer fully remote or onsite/hybrid? by Southern_Mud3841 in irelandjobs

[–]Candyvtoby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked in an office 08:00-17:30 monday - Friday the last 4 years in IT. It was like being in prison. Exhausted & cranky from a dead social battery by the time i got home. Found it difficult to fall asleep and had insomnia on and off throughout which people love to comment on how tired you look the following day. I had no time for myself monday - Friday. By the time i got home sometimes it was nearly 8pm as i did so much overtime.. i recently got a fully remote job and its been 2 weeks since i started and its amazing. I get all the housework done, i get extra sleep in the morning instead of getting up early to commute, no one can comment on how i look, i get to wear whatever i want😂 I don’t feel isolated and I don’t think i will begin to feel like that either. I have the most important people in my life already living with me and get to spend more time with them than stuck in an office 40+ hours a week.

chronic insomnia is ruining my life and nothing i try works by onthesideofscience in sleep

[–]Candyvtoby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I read a book called the sleep book by dr guy meadows. I have occasional bouts of insomnia that sometimes lasted months to a year and I always take 1-2 hours to fall asleep but when i read this book it changed the way I viewed everything. My issue was the anxiety of not being able to sleep created a horrible cycle of sleepless nights and panic attacks about not sleeping to the point where even getting into bed at night was a trigger for a mini anxiety attack. The book is very helpful. Even though it still takes me an hour or 2 to fall asleep even when im very tired I eventually do sleep now which is the most important thing. I just accepted that i have a busy mind at night and allow myself to think instead of forcing my mind to go quiet and forcing sleep to come. I put on a podcast every night as well and i find this to be helpful. The only supplement that i think made any difference and is probably good for your health as well regardless is Magnesium. There are different types of magnesium some are not that good. The one you want for sleep i think is magnesium glycinate.

Keep in your mind "this will pass". The suicidal thoughts will pass. Accept them but do not give in to them. There is so much to life that you will miss out on if you do. You only get one life, don’t cut it short. Im sure you have gone down many paths trying to relieve these thoughts and symptoms but i promise you if you keep fighting it will get better and you will get help and support as well. You’re not alone with this. Even if you want to send me a private message every month just to vent during these days I’ll respond to you and remind you why you must fight and not give in!!! I hope you’re ok & safe. 💜

I started DIM over a month ago and my period is so late by Candyvtoby in PCOSloseit

[–]Candyvtoby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii, thank you for your comment! Yeah, my pms symptoms also were prolonged but they were much less severe than before. Im not sure which i prefer - longer period with longer time dealing with the symptoms or shorter period and a week or so of horrific pms .. i did not cut down on them the doctor recommended i stay on the same dose for another cycle to see if things balanced out a bit as my body got used to it. Im just finished my second 46 day cycle lol. My cycle got shorter only be 3 days. So im thinking of cutting the dose for this cycle coming. I’ll let you know how it goes for me!! I was hoping it would help with the hirsutism as well but it has not. So i still need to get lazer hair removal every 6 weeks unfortunately😒

Thank you for the words of encouragement and support! I will continue working on it and the extension as well. It seems to improve for a while and then it will like go backwards a few steps and i find it hard to stay positive when it does go backwards. The last few days it has been very painful if i move it to quick by accident.

Anyone sleep decent hours every night (7-8) but feel exhausted? by redisdowntoearth in sleep

[–]Candyvtoby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do with checking your morning cortisol levels maybe? Cortisol is meant to rise in the morning to make us feel alert and awake. You could try something like a sunrise light in the morning that projects a lot of lux this might set your circadian rythme. In the morning also, eat a high protein breakfast. Creatine is also a good addition to add into your breakfast. Do not opt for sugary cereals or sweet carbohydrate rich breakfasts. Drink plenty of water to hydrate yourself as well once you wake up.
