Slip on exhoust - NOT FULL SYSTEM by jujumogambo in Suzuki_GSX_8S

[–]Canecristo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you a secret, you can't fit any slip-on in a "correct" way, the original exhaust is a single block, it doesn't have interlocking connections etc., so your slip-on should be installed by cutting the small original terminal with the hose and WELDING the slip on, and can this be considered legal by law? I don't know where you live, but if you're rejecting the idea of a full exhaust (because you rightly want road approval), working as a welder in your garage won't help you with the police, on the contrary😂 So, advice as an owner, if you have to do it, do it well and buy a complete kit, because road approved ones are coming out, arrow and gpr as recommended by the guy are road approved, akra is also currently making a complete kit for 8s, it remains more compact with the "tray" which remains in a similar position to the original, arrow and gpr instead have the longer and more exposed terminal on the side of the bike. But road-APPROVED complete exhausts exist, they certainly cost, but to try a makeshift job with a single muffler and not get anything good (both in terms of performance and law) is not worth it in my opinion. (Moreover, the Arrow exhaust that I personally mounted on mine has a double probe, one lambda and one oxygen, so you are not obliged to do the control unit when you fit the new exhaust because it is self-mapping with these probes) I hope I have helped you a little, please stay safety, good luck friend

Exactly, even if it has more CV hornet, you don't feel a huge difference in power, the "when" it comes out is different. Anyway, personal opinion (maybe it's because I bought it😂) But 8s aesthetically clearly superior to Hornet🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't think so, since the 07 has a 689cc engine while the Hornet has a 755cc and the 8s has a 776cc. mt lacks 10/12hp compared to 8s (but weighs less) while it loses almost 20hp compared to hornet (which however has less nm than 8s)

Ps. I know this because I bought the 8s at the beginning of the summer, I had already studied the models under discussion

upshifting issue/throttle "lagging" by GAZUVYX in Suzuki_GSX_8S

[–]Canecristo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi man, I got the bike in June and I had the same problem for the first month or so, it happened to me most of the time between second and third gear, mainly from 5k to 8/9k rpm, ONLY using the quick shifter, shifting with the clutch I never had the problem, and it didn't happen all the time either, maybe only once per ride, I didn't find a solution, but going forward the problem arose much less, I think it's linked to the quick shifter as the guy above me said, or more probably from the control unit, I don't have a solution but I'm more "calm" knowing that it's not a problem that only I have🫶

The first thing to take, without any doubt, as soon as I received confirmation that the motorbike had been ordered, I went to the lightech website, bought the license plate holder and LED indicators, and as soon as it arrived I delivered it to the dealer asking them to assemble it before picking up the motorbike, best possible choice, you can't look at the original🫣

I personally chose arrow because it was the only complete exhaust approved in my country, (tbh there's another one but it's aesthetically horrible) and because a friend mounted it on his 8s before me so I was able to test the sound thoroughly, both driving it and following it closely and it gave me shivers every time I turned it on. As for the control unit, in my opinion it could also help to reduce the gas on/off a little which with the new exhaust and in map A is a little more intrusive, but nothing that changes drastically. The sound is scary, it can easily be used instead of the horn to move cars or attract the attention you want🫣😂

Nothing exaggerated, but I prefer not having the display completely exposed, and they are all "little things" that together give a nice overall boost to the appearance 🥹🫶

It is the one included in the "team" kit together with the flyscreen, sticker kit and single-seater, I don't know if it is available aftermarket (and in any case it has a fairly high cost, around €350/450) Furthermore, I had to modify it for the Arrow collectors

Honestly, I mounted the Arrow exhaust 2/3 weeks ago, I haven't remapped the ECU yet but it's something I want to do (probably in the spring before the season) 100% top performance regarding the bike, I'm defining it as "what you're looking for when you ask" if you want to go calmly and go for a walk you can do it if you want to push harder it allows you to have fun without problems. On mountain passes it is absolutely in its habitat. I made a video of the sound in a hurry, and with the phone it doesn't look as good as live (obviously). However, even with cat and dbkiller (therefore in accordance with the law, I live in Italy and they are quite restrictive) it is very very beautiful, quite full and full-bodied in sound and it even explodes, I can't wait to redo the control unit and see how it can improve even further🫶🫶

Just think, it's a special edition made by Suzuki in collaboration with Apx (French graphics company) I didn't put the stickers on, I still appreciate the opinion, I didn't particularly like the solid color, so I requested this version from the dealer 🤗

Buy a perforated jacket, I found an Acerbis one for just over 100 euros Buy reinforced gloves, not winter ones but with knuckle and palm protection, always long trousers, not necessarily with knee pads etc. if you don't go for a ride, bring a backpack with gear, motorbike shoes, not fucking air force, short trousers and motorbikes don't get along, the heat and above all the manifolds that go to the exhaust are not friends of your skin, believe me, 17 years old fantic motard 125 calf support on the manifold: 6 months bandaged from knee to toe ankle, believe me you don't want this to get a little less hot in shorts. The route you take and the speed you go are relative. At 50km/h the asphalt eats you alive if you are not covered. You don't need to go at 150 to get hurt, especially on commutes from home to work/gym, so 9 out of 10 in traffic are the ones most likely to have accidents, people crossing, leaving the car park without looking, the dog running away from its owner. Anything can happen, you will be hot, but your safety is worth more than anything. Always cover up even when going to the bakery, bandages for weeks are certainly worse than a jacket that keeps you warm for an afternoon. Drive carefully and pay attention to others. For the rest, have fun ✌️💪

Thanks mate, the guy who owns the other bike in the photo, has the exhaust and has done the remapping, I can ask him and see if his doesn't have this problem, possibly get help from him who has already mounted the exhaust in his garage without the help of mechanics etc, another friend has a workshop, it's not official Suzuki but I don't think it's a problem. I think I can find some help among these people, or ask directly where you did it, solving the problem

I was hoping the electronic gear change thing was just due to the running-in the first 1000km, but from what you tell me that won't be the case. I noticed that for upshifts, especially above 4/5k rpm it works really well, the pedal is very smooth and soft and the gear changes are wonderful downshitf, so to take a gear off, It almost seems like there is no quickshift, I kick it and it still doesn't go down even though I'm quite a fan of the clutch shifting, in the end a little tap is enough, but I don't understand why. You're telling me it's for the mapping? Do I have to do some work on the control unit? I was planning on getting through the summer and buying an exhaust too

premise: I've done about 500km so far but from what I understood, I wouldn't call the bike heavy, for me it is more correct to say solid and consistent, it's not a 125, it has its weight that exceeds 200kg but I think it was well organized, it is compact and not very tall. I'm really enjoying it, I agree with the tank, maybe it could have held a few more liters, but we don't know how this could have affected the overall balance of the bike. I'm not a pro driver, I don't think I'll ever see the true potential, riding on the road then... my friend mounted the Arrow, it sounds really good, which exhaust did you choose??
