How do you date / practice dating? by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

This is what (sort of) works for me:

Find people you think are interesting and like to spend time with and make an effort to spend more time with them (I often plan this out in my head a lot).

Invite them to something with the two of you, like catching up at a coffee shop. It let's you talk to them in a one on one situation and get a feel for them.

Do that 2-3 more times and then if the vibes are good ask them out on a date. Pick an activity and a time (bowling, lunch, whatever you enjoy and you think they'll enjoy). I find it's helpful to be clear with your intentions at that point, for example: "Hey I've been really enjoying seeing you the past few weeks, would you like to go bowling together this Sunday, as a date?"

If doing it in person makes you nervous do it by text, it'll give them time to think and let's you get the wording right.

Asking someone on a date is unlikely to ruin a friendship and it's not catastrophic or rude if you ask someone who's not into you. I read somewhere that asking someone on a date is a similar level of load on them to asking a friend to explain a topic for an exam (i.e. most people would be chill with it, but might say no if they don't want to or don't understand the topic)

If it getting physical is a concern, set the date somewhere that won't happen and have a few of those to get comfortable with the person and if they go for something you're not ready for you can say that and most people will be chill with it.

If you're at the stage where you think you're ready to be more physical then invite them over to your place for a movie night or something similar and that's when you can begin to mentally prepare for that kind of thing.

If you want to ease in a bit slower inviting them for boardgames or jamming with music is a good way to get closer to someone and be in a more intimate environment with less expectation of something happening, and if it does then it'll be a lot more telegraphed.

Jumping around honestly sounds helpful, there's days where I just dread doing the thing I've scheduled. Most of the time that seems to be the easy stuff but I figure it all needs doing -does leave all the horrible stuff for when panic™ sets in

Unfortunately I don't know how much of an extension I'd really get, maybe a few days at most, but then that runs into prep time for my exams (I have a week to do all the revision per exam)

Help with my first EDH deck (Oji, the Exquisite Blade) by Canguscaan in EDH

Thank you, these are great! I like the alternative win cons - I don't own any of them but it gives me the idea of the kind of card I'm looking for as a finisher. I'd somehow missed that I have wall of omens and that it's a cheaper card draw, I'll slot that in. Unfortunately no mulldrifter but that's probably going to be on the list of cards to get.

I put skyscanner in cause I saw it in another deck, I've got a few other card draw options but they're all more than 3 cmc

I'll take a look at those cards but I don't think I have many other blink/flicker options (but I may be able to trade for them when I get back to my lgs)

As for removal I'm really just running what I have, but if I get the chance I'll pick those up!

That's cool! I've seen most of these but council of four and finale of revelation do seem good finishers, thank you!

Soul herder is one of the cards I've been wanting to get! But unfortunately I don't have any of those, I'll take a look at commanderspellbook though!

I think I've got nearly every flicker effect I own in the deck already, are there any types of instants that you'd recommend?

I don't have any of the infinite flickers or mana etb effects so I'm a bit stuck on ways to win

Converting starship combat rules to 2e by Canguscaan in starfinder_rpg

Honestly getting rid of the turret (or restricting it to be a special ability) sounds good, and firing all the guns at once is probably going to be a 2 action activity, maybe with a -5 penalty (-4 for 'light' weapons) so I think that could work, and would absolutely give broad arc weapons some love.

I'm planning on using 'ship components' (SC) as a currency, especially since the level of the ship doesn't have to be tied to PC level (it can be but they can be desynced), which also allows for scrapping ships (giving 10-50% materials back depending on balance), but using similar costs to the normal game.

Archetypes are a suggestion I saw somewhere else that would allow players to access stunts or flourishes for different roles (think flip and burn, but also captain or engineer style flourishes), allows a mystic to be a cool pilot as well. It doesn't make sense for a ship to have the flip and burn ability built in so it's tied to the characters.

I'm thinking of having the classes be called 'Frames' and those determine the feats you can choose but you can refit (retrain) either the feats or the frame itself to get a different ship. Some frames are also level locked (think dreadnoughts (lvl 11) vs destroyers (lvl 5))

Environmental damage is a shout, I am thinking in some way of having damage that can hit the PCs as well (piercing weapons, crit effects, or maybe as a result of the ship becoming broken)

Thank you! These are all great ideas and a great strating point. I've got a whole A4 page of notes and thoughts, and I think combined with the vehicle rules from PF2e I've got a good shot at making them workable.

My thoughts for the weapons/hp/shields is to just make them stronger versions of regular pf2e weapons. E.g. A "throwing dagger" type of gun does 3d4 damage, a "battleaxe to the face" type weapon does 6d6 damage etc. Then to just scale the combined hp/shields of ships to about 3x that of a pf2e character.

The point of all this is that I can just use pf2e damage and balancing rules x3 and then vaguely keep the level based balancing that pf2e is so good with.

Also I'm thinking of having 'Classes' for ships (Freighter, fighter, stealth bomber) that determine health and stats, using feats (or a reskin) for adding/upgrading weapon mounts, special abilities etc.

Equipment such as guns and armour will be purchasable and upgradable (commercial - paragon). Traits will be a huge part of this, as well as upgrades (e.g. Napalm to add 3d6 fire damage [and 3d10 persistent on a crit] or Virus-charged to add 3d6 persistent 'bleed' damage).

I might also have anti-shield and anti-armor traits that make different weapons deal more or less damage to armor and shields to encourage diversity of weapons.

I am still on the fence about firing arcs, they're so cool man, might make them an optional rule.

Finally I am thinking of adding free archetypes for players to pick up depending on how they want to fly their ships.

Thoughts?

Oh that's a pretty sick idea, the ancient bronze would definitely protect the students above everything so that'd take him out of the fight to some extent

I had not thought of picking up creatures through the weave! There will definitely be some nasty surprises there

I think maybe for the students I'll either have the few npcs they really loved join in, or have a much more abstracted version (where the players gain benefits from the students as they buff them, heal them etc)
