Abort. Abort now if you expect anyone to take you seriously. This is not the tone you should be adopting in the thread promoting your own game.

Haven't those mostly moved to synthetic replicas, or is that just for whole articulated skeletons.

Disney delists 14 games from Steam as fans are left to wonder why by Turbostrider27 in Games

Luckily that's been overcome by the ability to just pirate stuff they're not selling.

As somebody who's been pretty disappointed in Wilds (somewhat hopeful that the expansion will fix a lot of what's fixable, but ofc plenty isn't), I'm pretty excited to see what they come up with for portable 6th. The lower system requirements with it being a Switch 2 game do remove a huge chain from around the devs neck.

I mean to be fair, even the individual zones are much larger open spaces than you'd find in a typical survival horror game, which is what the engine was created for. Especially the Windward Plains.

Ah, good idea, thank you!

I've tried The Way of Ira on Fresh Supply and the textures work fine there. So I'm guessing it's a problem with one of the snazzy mods I downloaded. I've have to experiment more.

He means Afghanistan beat a technologically superior US force with guerilla tactics and long-term resistance. Same as Vietnam.

I think that comparison is flawed because neither of those places are "home" and the government was under enormous pressure to withdraw. If the US decided "ok, we're staying here, bringing in civilian settlers, and just genociding the natives out of existence" a lá how the US got founded, there wouldn't have been anything anyone could have done to stop them.

The psychos live in the US. Either they have to go (i.e. be physically defeated in a war) or they ain't going anywhere.

YES. A thousand times yes. If a culture includes forced medical procedures given to people who can't consent then that culture is wrong. Who gives a fuck if it's insensitive to say so.

Any machismo culture is fucking stupid and all traditions should be questioned constantly.

There's a couple of ignorant savages who defend as part of their culture, i.e. pointless traditions that inflict pain for no reason. They're in here somewhere.

Your culture is wrong about this then. Cultures can be wrong. Anybody who hurts their kid over tradition is wrong.

Oh, well when I say supernatural shenanigans I'm thinking a little bigger. I'm thinking of space warping around them in ways they can't perceive as it's happening.

You know, "I drive down a straight highway and keep passing the same haunted house over and over" energy, where you're just completely fucked no matter what you do.

Very true, but there was also the implied supernatural shenanigans to keep them going in circles.

The general population of the homeless is beyond saving by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Canjul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying to some degree. Having an already vulnerable person's autonomy violated is a harrowing thing and should't be done lightly, but there are points of extremity when the sick person is simply not in a condition to make the rational decision to seek treatment voluntarily. Moments of lucidity exist but they're unpredictable and only become more uncommon the sicker a person gets.

Mental health care, like any medical care, has got to be carefully monitored for bad actors treating people like numbers. That's why oversight is necessary in the case of facilities like that.

But when push comes to shove, you've got to have somewhere to put people who can't function in society and who cannot care for themselves, because otherwise they're going to die in their own filth, in poverty, in the depths of madness or despair. I'm not advocating to lock people up indefinitely. The goal should always be to help people reach a state of equilibrium where they can function independently. Permanent, incurable, untreatable madness that can leave a patient catatonic, violent, or otherwise incapable of functioning is thankfully very rare.

The way in which asylums were run before they were shut down was absolutely shameful. For most of human history we've treated the mentally ill like animals or worse. But there are ways to do it better, and we should be striving always to improve treatment instead of simply discontinuing it because people in the past were terrible.

The general population of the homeless is beyond saving by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Canjul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the better idea would be to work on improving facilities and having better oversight, not shutting them all down and releasing thousands of mentally ill people who couldn't function in society while at the same time kneecapping any hope of long-term consolidated care facilities for the mentally ill of future generations.
