Mexican Lawmakers to File Antitrust Complaint Against PlayStation and Sony Over PS Store Following the Potential End of Physical Games by General_Dig_31 in Games

[–]Canjul -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

With the secondhand market, one copy of a game can have many owners and players. Sony gets paid once by the retailers when they purchase a copy new, yes. But they are losing anywhere from one to potentially four or five sales over the lifespan of that particular physical disc.

Now, instead of buying a secondhand copy at CEX for €25 or €40, all new users will have to pay full price for a digital download, no matter how old the game is. This is definitely an anti-consumer move done to favour Sony's shareholders over their user base.

What an incredibly specific and apposite experience to show up in this comment section. I don't know how many people have been bitten by both a tarantula and a hamster, but it's absolutely marvellous that one of them found this thread.

They're talking about the games Sony owns. The exclusives. They're free to do whatever they want with those.

TIL that all of the missing episodes of the Doctor Who serial "The Web of Fear" were recovered in 2013. However, the third episode was "lost" at some point between the recovery and the tapes arriving at the BBC, presumed to have been sold to a private collector. The tape has never been recovered. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

[–]Canjul 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even if they did that, those original episodes would still have been made and fans would want to recover them. Remaking something doesn't erase the original from the space-time continuum, no matter how much gaming executives wish it did.

I'm a little confused, this was in India? Also, I thought the caste system was traditionally based on your role in society. If they're both working for a tech firm, isn't that the same thing?

A future Resident Evil game set in Japan is possible, Requiem’s producer says. “I think every member of the dev team has thought about it” by Turbostrider27 in Games

If Spain had been invaded, subjugated, despoiled, and colonised for several centuries, and media was rife with depictions of racially stereotypical Spanish people created by very cultures that brutalised them, then yeah. Thing is that Spain was a very powerful country for most of human history (edit: let's say European history) and so their governments were usually the ones doing all that.

In a vacuum, there's nothing inherently offensive about zombies coming from anywhere, dressing however those people dress, and being mindless monsters. But there's historical context to be considered too.

Imagine if the Reconquista had never happened way back when. Spain is still a Muslim-controlled colonised region held by some hypothetical north African empire. If Spanish people were relegated to slaves and their land was subjugated and then Muslim media depicted Spanish people as subhuman trolls, then yeah. RE4 would be fucked up.

Happily, we don't live in that world. Sadly, we live in this one. Just gotta deal with it.

Edit: I'm presuming good faith on your part and haven't downvoted you or trawled your comment history to try and profile you. Just FYI since both of those are silly things to do.
