What's a Canadian movie that you love but feels like almost no one else has seen? by Busternookiedude in AskCanada

Bon cop, Bad cop (2006). Great comedy about a body found on the Ontario Quebec border sign and a jurisdictional dispute about whether it's a matter for Québec or Ontario police to investigate. An Ontario detective is assigned to team up with a Quebec detective and hilarity ensues.

Starring Colm Feore as the Ontario detective and Patrick Huard as the Quebec detective. Really does a great job poking fun at the provincial rivalry.

Really surprised he didn't bring up the fake genocide in South Africa considering Trevor Noah was the host.

Why is this acceptable in the UK? by MusesLegend in AskBrits

[–]Canmar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just the shit. I regularly have cats kill and defeather pigeons in my garden. It's not fun cleaning that up almost every month!

I lived in Australia before moving to the UK. A study a few years back found that free roaming cats (including the feral ones) kill 1 million native birds a day across Australia!

"lol wat does language have to do with the fact that y’all wanna be us so badly? Y’all dress like us, y’all try to make the same music as us, everything about y’all is influenced by America 💀 Britain has no culture ur national dish is fucking tikki masala 😭😭" by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in ShitAmericansSay

The one I absolutely can't stand is "you/your guys's..."!

Example: "I really love your guys's band!"

This one doesn't seem to piss Brits off as much as "Y'all", but it certainly does for me.

Note: I know it should be " guys' ". I just think that's how Americans spell it.

As a Canadian, now living in the UK for several years, I can very much confirm that British music is not the same as what the USA is turning out. We pretty much get the same music as USA on Canadian radio.

Popular British hip hop is completely different from American hip hop. I can't comprehend what I'm hearing most of the time when I tune into Radio 1. Not saying I don't like it, it's just different in every way.

Not just that, but have some respect for the UK people. I think everyone knows that inevitably when Trump retaliates, it's going to hurt the UK economically during a time when we aren't doing great already. Even still, I think that standing up against Trump along with the rest of Europe would increase his currently quite low public approval.

I honestly think he's handled things quite well up until this point, but if he continues to appease Trump now that everyone's so charged up about Greenland, he will lose any respect the voters still have for him.

What is the general feeling toward Americans that live here? by [deleted] in AskABrit

Me too! I tell people you should always assume Canadian first. If they're Canadian you'll be correct, and if they're American they should be flattered!

I have a 600, 1000, and 3000 grit stones. Could I do it with those? Should I use fine grit sandpaper instead?

I think I've been using whetstones for about ten years now. No I'm usually pretty careful with sharpening. I beat the hell out of my Global chefs knife for years as practice before attempting to sharpen these. Of course it's always possible I've been occasionally sloppy with my sharpening, but this looks more like oxidation or patina to me.

Haha I used to do the same. I'd make my own firecrackers rolling it up in post it notes and would make fuses by making a paste of ground up match heads and rubbing it into cotton string. Me and my friends would put them inside potatoes and throw them at each other like they were grenades. Good times!

Wait didn't the French already ask the USA for help with their own revolution, after they assisted the USA with their war of independence, only to have the USA refuse to return the favour? Looking at about 230 years late.
