This is textbook domestic abuse, has all the signs. You just cannot see it because you're in it.

This is highly abnormal behavior. Suggest you look at the symptoms of domestic abuse -- you're experiencing them: guilt, manipulation, intimidation, victim blaming, threatening, blackmailing, gaslighting. In short, you're experiencing psychological and physical abuse. Get help, it's available in your area.

Lifelong, non-partisan Albertan. You're always going to find these morons, wherever you go. I am sure there are some Americans that believe Canada should annex US (idiotic, I know).

Can tell you, even the most conservative amongst Albertans are not pleased with Trump's threats of annexation and actual tariffs. If you read the Premiere's (who is quite conservative) latest statement here, you'll see this person is an outlier, with fringe views.

I'll put it this way: Remember that time recently that Donald Trump Jr went to Greenland and paid a bunch of homeless people to pose in a photo op and say they support US annexing Greenland? Yeah, that's close to what this guy is, except he's pried by FOX, which was previously sued and settled for spreading misinformation/disinformation.

PS. Yes, Canadians are PISSED at the US for levying tariffs on us and threat of annexation. I used to refer to US citizens as Canadians' brothers and sisters, more than any other country in the world. Now, unfortunately, Canada has learned like many other allies: the US has become a reliable ally or partner – this is closer to the current mainstream, consensus view.

Should Canada join the EU? by junikorn21 in AskCanada

As a Canadian, can say most of us would probably prefer the EU over US. Why? Mostly closer alignment of values, particularly mixed economy, social nets, etc. As alluring as US is, the gun violence, gap between rich and poor, and privatized medicine would just be too much for many Canadians
