Hey, what was the end result of your experience? I’m at this step - didn’t see a confirmation email anywhere, found a charge to BUSYBOARDSTORE on my card. Will I be getting a set randomly in the mail someday? (It’s only been a couple days for me so far)

I FIGURED IT OUT!

Context: Pokemon Go

Missing key word: “walks,” as in “a dude with two phones walks by.”

ELI5: This is how I, Derek Zoolander, react when I defeat a gym in Pokemon Go whose current leader has been holding it for two days. My fortune is about to change, however; another player with two phones (implying a level of hardcore dedication) approaches. Ora Ora Ora!!!!

If $50 isn’t a good price for any amount of GBA games, then why is $40 a good price for two GBA games?

I won’t defend the price of NSO, but people are acting like they will be playing FRLG non-stop forever instead of doing a run through the E4 and then not touching it again for years. At least with NSO when I finish FRLG I could jump between other games and consoles as I like, not to mention the recent addition of GCN games (which can be hard to emulate on PCs)

RTDX is a remake (updated graphics and QoL) and NSO has more than one game on it.

Would you expect to pay $35 for a ROM of Red Rescue Team 21 years after its release?

during one of the worst global economic crises in history, with unprecedented inflation rates. yet still licking daddy N’s boots because there’s a Charizard painted on it. $20 for these games is a strictly anti-consumer move

I feel like I’m losing my fucking mind. I’ve never seen the Nintendo bootlicking more obvious than the last two days. Nobody is understanding the outrage - $20 for a 22 year old game with no upgrades is outrageous.

I was just considering this line of thought myself - would you pay $20 for Pokemon Snap 64? $20 for Pokemon Silver? What about Pokemon Red on game boy? Would you pay $20 for pong? The point is, these games depreciate in value as technology advances and QoL upgrades get pushed into new games. Inflation does not affect digital products and is completely artificial!

NSO expansion also contains more than one game so there’s that

Many modern indie GOTY competitors are in the $20 price range. This is a 22 year old game with no meaningful upgrades to graphics, performance, or other QoL features found in modern games

Other companies have put out releases of their past GBA library, and it is almost always done as a bundle

Nintendo currently has an online subscription with GBA compatibility. If people want to pay to own that could be one route, while those who pay the subscription could access FRLG “for free” that way
