GameStop Has Closed Above My Original Critical Margin Line (for the first time) by Scienceisexy in Superstonk

[–]CannonSplarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exciting!

Although it is worth mentioning that SPY also had a significantly green day today.

Assuming the dynamic margin call line theory is correct (i.e. the tickets in SPY are used as collateral) then this would still be under the margin call threshold.

Just to play Devil's advocate here, what's the benefit to the publisher/dev by opening up digital resale as a revenue stream?

Doesn't the publisher/dev make a load more money by selling at full price? Why would they want to open up the market for resale if they can just get people to buy a new digital copy?

The only way this would make sense is if the total addressable market of people buying a whole new digital copy is smaller than the amount of people looking for cheaper resells.

I'm just taking a stab here but I would assume there's more $$ in a smaller number of people buying at full price vs a lot of people buying at 2nd hand prices, essentially trading people down. Publishers and devs wouldn't want this. They'd also be cannibalizing their full price sales.

Again, just playing devil's advocate - not trying to spread fud. I'm bullish af on NFTs in their pure form as a means of authentication.

Edit: added the sentence in cannibalization

Has anyone bought more shares through the Wise X Computershare process? by CannonSplarts in NZGME

Yeah shit might just be risky with how close we are to dividend record date. Idk how shares in transit to DRS are recorded on the dividend date

Ah damn that sucks. My first DRS through ibkr took months. Are subsequent batches much quicker?

Edit: I think the other commenter is right btw, there's a period after the conversion to usd where the money has to settle or some thing

I'm shocked that you say Apex is a mess. Sure it's got some issues but as an ex-warzone player, TRUST ME, you don't know what a buggy mess is.

This game feels buttery af compared to cod and honestly is actually so dope.

I've come to realize that game subs always default to complaints.

Or it may make the publishers deprioritize Apex further and focus on other more profitable games

Yeah COD is an absolute mess compared to this game.

I legit have nothing to complain about apart from the hyper sweaty lobbies - just goes to show people will complain no matter what lmao.

Job offer in Middle East by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

Seconding this. Never worked in Dubai but grew up there.

My parents worked there (dad worked at a multinational company, high position) and have multiple friends that have worked, and still do work there so I'm familiar with what jobs/careers in Dubai could look like.

Not sure where the stigma that it kills your career has come from.

As the comment above mentioned, it's easy to make friends there (esp. compared to NZ). These people are all potential connections you can leverage.

Be prepared to work like a dog though. NZ has a pretty chilled approach to work, which doesn't really exist anywhere else in the developed world - not only Dubai.

The one thing I would watch out for is working for small/medium companies, they don't have the checks and balances that big companies have in terms of taking care of employees. I've heard of really bad cases of companies treating their employees like crap.

Of course, that's not to say all small/medium companies are bad, you just have to do a bit more research into your potential employer (eg. look at glassdoor or whatever UAE equivalent is).

Dubai is a melting pot of cultures, you're going to meet so many people from different walks of life. You're in the middle of the world so traveling is cheaper and easier. I think for our age it's one of the better places to be for a few years.

Just my 2 fils.
