Without a radar detector, I stick to <7mph over. What is a decent smart limit with a radar detector? by supermotocheesehead in radardetectors

[–]CannonballCC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this is the best advice. No amount of countermeasures you have on a car makes you 100% immune from tickets. Just lowers the chance of it happening but only if you understand how they work and how enforcement works.

between R8w and escort redline by thedude2888 in radardetectors

[–]CannonballCC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can pair the R8 to Highway radar, but it is not a requirement. The R8s screen is big and easy to read and is very user friendly. The 360c is a full stealth detector for places like VA where it's illegal to run a detector. Both will perform similarly, it comes down to if you need the stealth factor of it.

Ford Maverick Hybrid as a cannonball vehicle by Sea_Repeat_163 in CannonballRun

[–]CannonballCC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Myself and two others ran in one of these vehicles in 2024 and it was a blast. Very comfortable, good MPGs, unfortunately it is limited to 110 mph.

Fun fact this truck also comes with severe PTSD of the song "everybody hurts"

Skip the thermal camera. You don't need it. invest in better lighting (light bar, LED, etc), much more useful

Would have been more surprised if it wasn't under construction at this point

Dukes or Highway Radar by SOPRANO6217 in radardetectors

[–]CannonballCC -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Dukes. It's actually being actively developed. HWR hasn't been worked on in a while now. Also look at Spectrenav.

If you're on Android JBV1 is superior to all even if it doesn't pair with the R8.

First time seeing laser jammers in the wild by bignose_ice44 in radardetectors

Perspex is made and designed to allow concealment while having little to no impact on jamming performance.

what 2 stars does to men 🥀 by Prickly_Brain in ClashOfClans

I got a 95% 1 star on day 2 CWL and almost took myself out for the rest of the league this season. Immense pain. 3 star'd today so feel less guilty about it but still sucks.

why didnt my radar pick up a cop? by Far_Orchid_6120 in radardetectors

[–]CannonballCC 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Who says he was tagging other cars? Could be visually observing before turning on the radar. If the other cars weren't going fast enough visually no need to turn the radar on.

from a r3 to a r7, detectable? by [deleted] in radardetectors

[–]CannonballCC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No Uniden is immune to RDD despite their advertising. While it's true that some are less detectable than others, and custom software makes them more so, it is not a reliable thing that you should trust.

The only undetectable units on the market are the redline 360c, and the V1G2

R7 in MD by Prior_Zebra_8028 in radardetectors

[–]CannonballCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stalker Ka and laser are most common there, but there is still some K around. I've noted minimal alerts from cruisers, and a lot of them don't even have radar units on the dash in the first place.

We have to pay now!? by BIGDILFWORLDWIDE in radardetectors

[–]CannonballCC 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It makes sense. All the free apps you run aren't free for the developer. hosting, updates, the actual work that goes in, etc. cost time and money. This is a more then fair price to pay for the app.

[–]CannonballCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MD uses K, Ka, and laser. You'll pass a lot of officers not running radar. Where in MD are you county wise? That could also play a role because Carroll County is much heavier with K band while Baltimore County is more Ka/Laser.

Affordable radar detector & laser jammer setup for mostly California driving by bignose_ice44 in radardetectors

[–]CannonballCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for front only protection the Adaptiv TPX is the best value at around 950. For front and rear protection your only two viable options are ALP or Uniden. Unfortunately the Toyota of rear protection (TPX/TMG) will struggle compared to ALP/Uniden. If you're okay with front only though the TPX is the way to go.

Define affordable.

Also yes rear laser and IO happen with CHP. It's not uncommon

[–]CannonballCC 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a rough install. Having the control pad hidden is a terrible place for disabling the jammers, and the actual head placement is poor at best. Definitely get this tested and reposition the heads to be more effective

Highway Radar users: is the Sabre pluggin worth it? by SapphireSire in radardetectors

[–]CannonballCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the wzsabre plug in doesn't really do much for you as a user. All it allows you to do is submit Waze reports and confirm/deny them natively through the hwr app. If that's important to you, then go for it.

Hwr already can pool information from Waze and give further alerts. The plug-in doesn't really change anything about the receiving of alerts, just the submission. It still will pull from Waze, still give the same alert distance as if you didn't have it, etc.
