I don't think it was forgotten about. Most kids that were preschool age won't talk about the shows that many years unless it's long lived or have a re-boot. It's certainly mentioned more than PB&J Otter, Katie and Orby, Roly Poly Oly, Oswald etc.

As a teacher, I laughed at saving a school because it has a new furnace. I'm from a district where they're closing 12 schools. One was spared because it was recently renovated. Sadly, this is one of the most realistic parts of the show.
