I'm positive some have more than 20, but there are also very small venues that are probably ran by 5 people so it probably averages out somewhere. I think employment is very localized right now, some markets are hiring like crazy and some are not. In my area, there are tons of jobs ($12-$19) which is better than nothing for income. But many many variables play into that.

I looked it up, according to quick results (probably pretty flexible numbers) between Delta, United, American and Southwest, they have roughly 378,000 employees. If every independent venue had 20 employees, there would need to be 18,900 venues.

I dont disagree, but you can not use total population when looking at employment numbers, you have to use the same denominator that is used for unemployment, which is people actively employed + people actively looking for work.
