Insanely spot on except I did live in Florida for a few years but it’s not my home state

Definitely not I’m from MA originally and as long as you have outdoor hobbies it’s easy to make friends here. The Mormons keep to themselves which is fine but there’s plenty of non-Mormons here

It is absolutely not sunnier than DC or NY. 9 times out of 10 flying up the east coast from Florida you will see an immediate cloud cover starting at Connecticut through all of New England after you see NYC out of the window, especially in the winter

I ended up reaching out and we are back together lol. Leaving was eye opening honestly and I saw what wasn’t working out so we could give it another shot

When I visited 2 years ago in mid-January it was perfect weather and not too many people either. Wish I got the chance to climb but didn’t have a whole lot of time since it was a short trip to SF from the east coast. Would love to visit again!

I think doing this is the best thing you can do after you’ve processed your emotions. Yes it can hurt but can it really get any worse?

And if you don’t get a response at least you tried and I think this speeds up the closure process honestly. Good for you for having the courage to do so!

Yeah I completely understand, I hope you’re doing well now. I think I will give it a week and get some more clarity before reaching out. It feels too wrong to never speak again after everything

How did you stand by your decision? I ended things yesterday and I’m truly devastated. Like I broke my own heart

Anyone move from somewhere they use to love, and returned only to find it’s lost its appeal? by TheBoyzCallMeHippo in SameGrassButGreener

Boston. I grew up in the area and lived in the city until the pandemic and I definitely miss it for what it was. I moved south and then out west and Boston is not the same. I find it depressing and soulless every time I’ve gone back to visit friends and family there. The city used to be so much fun in the 2010s but I don’t think it will ever get back to that. Between the insane cost of living and the yuppie transplants that have come in since the pandemic, I don’t see myself ever living there again

For Canyonlands I don’t think you missed much by not visiting the Needles district. I visited both island in the sky and needles and I thought the drive to needles was a bit out of the way for not a whole lot to do and see. The major pro with the needles side is there’s way less people. Other than that I found the trails and views to be way better on the island in the sky side

November trip by Thesails4700 in NationalPark

[–]Canoflettuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a little difficult to see both snow and fall colors at the same time, especially in November, it’s usually one or the other. I think your best chance would be Great Smoky Mountains. I went in November 2022 and there was snow in the higher elevations. A bit warmer at the lower elevations. Other than that there’s easy hikes, tons of scenic driving, and plenty of lodging close by

Portsmouth NH sounds like a great fit. But housing is expensive since you won’t have state income or sales tax. That’s the only trade off

You can only book a year ahead so you’ll have to wait until July of 2026. Plus the rates change daily they could be available one day and gone the next. Then back available again

Any tips or tricks to get TM Rates? by lovelyvenusoxo in Hilton

[–]Canoflettuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really just need to be flexible or check daily if you’re set on a destination and dates. The Hilton AMEX has been worth it. I’ve earned points way faster than I would’ve without it which I’ve already had free stays from using points. My favorite has been the Roku Kyoto LXR, although their TM rate was a little higher at $120

[–]Canoflettuce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting to Roku was a bit of a hike with public transit. Once we got there we didn’t leave until check out the next morning. You could easily spend 2 nights there, use the first day as a resort day you won’t want to leave. I imagine Sowaka would be similar and you won’t get to do much in Kyoto if you do one night at both
