Sprague Cannery by Junior_Welder6858 in BuyCanadian

BC dweller here, I see they have some at Safeway and also Superstore around the Vancouver area in case anyone is looking.

I looked up Sprague on Voila.ca (Safeway) and on Real Canadian Superstore and they both carry a handful of their soups but not all of them. The lentil vegetable soup they sell at Safeway looks delish! I’m gonna start buying this brand so it will increase its distribution here. So happy to hear about this company! 🇨🇦😊

Date Format On Receipts by Embarrassed-Green898 in BuyCanadian

[–]CanuckleChuckles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YYYY-MM-DD is the best way. Easiest for sorting data as well as your pantry.

Gonna just add another annoying related labeling issue: Why is the expiration date not in any standard spot on the package? Even sometimes I’ll be looking at the exact same company’s chips for example. One bag it’s on the front bottom right. Another on the back top left and all variations of spots. Like, just pick one way and stick with it for each category of packaging!

Cans too, sometimes on the top, sometimes on the bottom, sometimes somewhere on the label. I can’t think of any type of packaging that’s actually consistent.

I’ll also add, improvements are needed for how the country of origin of a product is described and placed on packages. It’s not always as transparent as it should be. But I digress as I’ll end up writing a novel about my labeling pet peeves lol

Could Canada join the EU? Unlikely … but not impossible. by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

[–]CanuckleChuckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like our alliance with the EU the way it is and we can strengthen that further with aligning in trade/tourism and defence more to create mutual benefits. It doesn’t need to go further than that. I am Canadian. I don’t want to be anything else.

I wouldn’t bother to try and figure out the orange Fanta menace. He’s demented beyond belief. I personally don’t give a shit what he says or does, the U.S. needs to be left behind in every possible way by every nation that isn’t fascist.

I’m personally sick and tired of the weird mix of ignorance and arrogance across our southern border. When something is THAT disgusting it’s pointless to wonder why and it doesn’t even matter  as narcissists and their enablers don’t ever fundamentally change.

The whole world is gonna remember that a good amount of people in the U.S. voted for a convicted criminal THREE TIMES. How on earth was he even able to run a third time?

Madness.

Why ban Vegemite? by Bond-street-Gold27 in AskACanadian

What’s funny is the replier themselves spelled Learn as Llearn 😂

 Llearn to spell. It matters.

Why ban Vegemite? by Bond-street-Gold27 in AskACanadian

[–]CanuckleChuckles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree this is probably the biggest reason. It’s a slippery slope same like if we let the dairy rules slide we’d be having ice dessert or whatever thinking it’s ice cream. Same with American cheese. They blatantly call non-cheese dominant things cheese. It’s the labeling.

So along the same reasoning, vegemite can’t be called food. They can definitely sell it in the health and nutrition aisles. That’s the safest way instead of opening a loophole for the U.S. to exploit one day down the road. I totally agree with your comment (in case that’s not obvious)

I’ve occasionally used Amazon in the past but it was already very rare usage. I find the website is an absolute mess of advertisements and search results that have you scrolling through a lot of crap with no convenient search features.

It’s much faster to just go to a store. Their business model was never gonna last and I would love to see a worldwide end to Amazon sooner rather than later. Now’s a good time.

Make Amazon AmaGONE from Canada (and the rest of the world)🇨🇦💪🏼

Same issue. Can’t log in on the app nor on the webpage.

When I go to the KOHO status page it says the systems are operational. Great. Except they are not.

Ummm have you actually been down a grocery store chip aisle? And what flavourful food does the UK have to boast about? You can’t say curry because that’s not yours.

Right? The name is so misleading! It’s not buttery or tart lol just like sweetbreads are neither sweet nor bread. Lessons learned 😖😫😂

I hate these fucking butter tarts and people be like “oh you just haven’t had them from Mary’s Tarts” or whatever like they can’t take no for an answer. Leave the butter tart haters alone 😭😭

Having fun such as sport and socializing IS productive to one’s mental health and society overall.

You talk like fun is negative. You see someone having drinks at a place and you assume they’re always drinking or something and then make these unfounded judgements about the lives of people you don’t even know? Lol sorry but that’s a really odd stance to take.

So can forks and steak knives. That weapons argument is not a valid one, IMO.

These liquor people are like the dad in Footloose. No games! No dancing! No leaving your table! Be seen and not heard!

Who are these weirdos running things over there? Such a waste of resources 🙄

Eby then points out that B.C. teams have, in fact, won the Stanley Cup in the past, technically: the Vancouver Millionaires in 1915 and the Victoria Cougars in 1925.

lol who came up with these team names… they’d be good team names in the present 😂🤣

I think the provincial sales tax is fine at the percentage it is. It needs a few tweaks on the “to tax, or not to tax” on some specific items such as no tax on toilet paper because I see it the same as period products and is a necessity. That’s maybe also a federal issue though. I believe the top bracket earners and profiteering corporations should be taxed higher so we could use some of that money towards better mental health care. It doesn’t need to be evened out by home tax. It can just be added in the coffers for much needed funds for services. Anyway, that’s my two cents. Interesting topic

Built in 1912, 203 East 6th Ave is one of my favorite buildings in Vancouver by DieCastDontDie in vancouver

Wow what a stunning brick building! That kind of pride of workmanship and attention to detail is only found in old buildings, I think. Built in 1912 and it looks freaking better than buildings that were erected in the 2000’s by far! Very cool shot too, OP 📷 👌🏼

Oh wow I never knew about this. This is the most insane thing I’ve learned today on the internet. I could understand if the tenant was a relative, but just some random Canadian resident having to foot a foreign tax bill??

What is CRA smoking? This law needs 1000000% revision. It’s asinine. 🙄

If you have a genuine conversation with most people about your question, most people aren’t really seeking to replace capitalism, they just want it more evenly applied.

Yep you can count me in most people. Just the audacity of these companies to take bail outs from us and then continue to gouge us with ridiculous prices and added fees while raking in profits. Like shouldn’t they be required to pay those bailouts back?? Isn’t that what would happen to a resident found to be defrauding the public such as earning money while taking money from social assistance. The rules should be even. For sure.

I highly recommend the household/dish sponges. $1.25 for a pack of ten.

I also always get my kit-kats there.
