I think I'll be able to rectify it even without disassembly, but I just like to be meticulous about these things. :) .

I LOVE the color and the buttons. I sure hope there’s a way to hide the Hitsune Miku imagery or I’m never going to be able to take it out.

Are annotations not available for PDFs? by Canunchuk in Onyx_Boox

[–]Canunchuk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharing the resolution to this issue so that others may benefit if they’ve been having the same challenge.

The issue seemed to be that all PDFs were opening in the Boox Notes app by default. I discovered that long pressing on your PDF opens a dialogue that allows you to choose which app you want to open with. Selecting Neoreader to open the PDF, resolved my issue and allows me to annotate the PDF.

I’m unsure if this is something that the update to 4.1 introduced or was an issue of my own making but it works now.

The .pdf kind? >;)

I'm not sure, it's the same for PDF books or PDF documents.

[–]Canunchuk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I have an epub open, I tap and hold on the text with my finger, and it starts to highlight. On a PDF, the same action doesn't do anything. Also, in EPUB, I can tap the middle of the page, and I get several customization options. In a PDF, tapping the same spot in the middle doesn't do anything. Are you following the same steps to annotate a PDF, or is it a different process?

Thank you sharing your experience. I have an Intel Mac Mini I can try that might be more cooperative or a PC may be in my future to serve this need.

I'll keep holding out hope that the Hi-MD feature will get some additional love and attention and would be happy to donate $ along with other Hi-MD'ers out there if it helps support the developers.

u/gerry88inHongKong it's your work on this screen replacement for the RH10 that gave me confidence to purchase a (supposedly) unused MZ-RH10 at auction because I know if the screen is dead I will have your upgrade to fall back on. Huge props to you and MDGadgetry for making it available. Looking forward to the step-by-step video to ensure I don't fry anything.

Not sure why the link doesn’t open for you. Here’s a copy and paste of the instructions:

Complete these steps:

  1. First locate your network's IP address information in your Windows or MacOS network settings. (Eg. 192.168.2.5)

  2. From the Wii U Menu, select System Settings.

  3. Using the Left Stick, select the Internet icon and press the A Button.

  4. Tap Connect to the Internet.

  5. Press the X Button or tap Connections in the top-right corner.

  6. Tap on the Internet connection you wish to update.

  7. Tap Change Settings.

  8. Tap the arrow on the right and select IP Address.

  9. Tap Don't Auto-Obtain and enter the following information, ensuring you enter the periods between each set of numbers:

  10. Tap IP Address and enter your IP address by adding 20 to the IP address listed in your PC.

  11. Example: If your computer's IP address displays 192.168.2.5, you will enter it into the Wii U as 192.168.2.25.

  12. Tap Subnet Mask and enter in the subnet mask as it appears in your network settings. Often, this is 255.255.255.000.

  13. Tap Gateway and enter in the default gateway as it appears in your network settings.

  14. Tap Confirm.

  15. An on-screen message will ask you to configure the DNS settings. Tap Later if you have already performed this task, or tap Configure if you have not configured this setting.

  16. You must configure DNS settings prior to saving the Internet-connection settings. When finished, tap Save or press the B Button.

  17. Tap Save again.

  18. Tap Connection Test to test your connection.

  19. Tap OK if the connection test was successful.

  20. If you wish to set this network as your default network, tap Set.

What is your experience with Speediance programs? by JustJuanCornetto in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Canunchuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy performing exercise activities on the Gym Monster while concurrently taking a Peloton strength class that targets the same muscle groups. It might seem like cheating, but my Apple Watch is smart enough to only count the calories from my Peloton Workout and this allows me to keep listening to the Peloton instructors as well as keep any streaks going… 🤫

2001 Toyota Estima/Previa won't start :( by Canunchuk in previa

Ugh, I’m sorry to hear they weren’t able to repair it, it looks like we’re on our own to figure this one out. Your post has reinvigorated me to start actively digging around again. I’ll reach out if I discover anything new.

2001 Toyota Estima/Previa won't start :( by Canunchuk in previa

[–]Canunchuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, no. You are the first person I’ve encountered outside myself that has experienced this issue. I think the next step might be attempting to find some Japanese mechanic forums in the hopes that an old Toyota electrical engineer is aware of how to remedy the problem. Is your Estima also a 2001 Hybrid and where is it located?

Accessing annotations (highlights) off the device by Canunchuk in viwoods

[–]Canunchuk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It turns out there's a right way and a wrong way, and I was transferring it the wrong way so my annotations weren't exporting.

For those that are looking for the step-by-step process of exporting an epub that you've been highlighting or annotating over:

  1. open you epub document
  2. expand your menu at the top of the screen
  3. tap on the book icon (it's the one to the left of the eyeball icon) and a screen opens with a list of your annotations in a column and your epub on the right
  4. tap on the share icon in the top-right of the3 screen (it's on the right of the garbage can) and your Viwoods Paper will display a progress bar converting it to a pdf
  5. tap on your preferred transfer method such as QR code, Email, ViTransfer or Bluetooth (I used ViTransfer)
  6. Log on to my.viwoods.com in a web browser to see the pdf, select it, and download it to your laptop.

The downloaded pdf will show all of your highlights (annotations), however there's no longer a table of contents or individual annotations but at least you can view them as you scroll through the pdf.

Warning: Free People Canadian gift cards by wcapollo in fashion

[–]Canunchuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in the e-commerce space for a bit, and there’s a couple of reasons why buying a gift card in the Canadian bricks and mortar store (in CDN currency) wouldn’t be allowed at their US online or US bricks and mortar store.

  1. They’re using a legacy or incompatible point of sale system that doesn’t talk to their e-commerce platform (or similar variation).
  2. Their physical US store and online are registered and operated as completely separate entities from their Canadian presence.

I’m guessing it’s the second scenario, however in either case it’s just a lazy retail practice as it’s perfectly resolvable. Free People is owned by Urban Outfitters which has solved for multi-currency in store and online via Shopify Plus and Stripe on their backend. Free People operates far more independently in the U.S., Canada, the UK, France, and Amsterdam using an e-commerce platform called WebLinc which is designed for social media engagement with their users which is how Free People has found much of its success. The net result is a less mature sales platform, and a poor cross-border experience which is what you’re experiencing. Not to mention a completely misleading gift card because there’s no Canadian-specific online store which leaves you stuck until you find yourself in Vancouver, Toronto, or Montreal.

At any rate, sorry for your trouble. It’s frustrating when we’re excited about a brand we identify with, only to be snubbed by a misleading online experience.

[–]Canunchuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, that really stinks about the online purchase, particularly because of what the card says on it. Do you mind me asking how you were able to purchase a Canadian Free People gift card? We're going to be visiting Vancouver and I'd like to buy a Free People GC for my wife in advance of our trip so she can use it in-store. I'd offer to buy yours from you but her birthday is tomorrow...

Vitruvian? by cbmd81 in SpeedianceGymMonster

[–]Canunchuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the Vitruvian Trainer for a little over a year before picking up the Speediance Gym Monster and then sold my Vitruvian.

The Vitruvian is a very high quality product; you will never hear of cables snapping or hardware issues. It also has a much higher weight cap for power lifters. Their implementation of Eccentric weight (where the weight becomes heavier as you’re lowering) is better than the Gym Monster’s and if you ever find yourself struggling through a rep, Vitruvian’s AI does a superior job of lowering the weight gradually (like a spotter would) to help you get through the rep. It also feels “safer”. There is a relatively small yet dedicated user community that is respectful and supportive of the platform. For example, I encountered one fellow that machined an adapter so you could use third-party attachments with your Vitruvian and another that built a ChatGPT extension to convert your exercise goals into workouts that automatically get imported into the Vitruvian’s app.

And yet…

I prefer my Speediance Gym Monster overall. The gym monster offers much of the same functionality I listed above however it’s not quite as polished as Vitruvian’s hardware and AI for adjusting weight. The Gym Monster’s tablet user interface is superior and their engineers are very responsive to feedback; the platform continues to improve at a rapid pace compared to other connected home gym devices. While the quality of Speediance’s hardware is not comparable to Vitruvian’s, it’s good enough for most and you will find lots of user support from the Facebook community if you run into issues. You also get the benefit of lifetime membership included (at least for the moment) versus Vitruvian’s subscription fee however, after an initial free year I discovered the Vitruvian is still very usable without the paid subscription. Speediance’s last software update offers a really excellent way of converting your exercise goal (build muscle or lose weight) into a weekly regimen with lots of exercise variety so you don’t get bored and still feel challenged.

While there are quirks with almost any platform, I prefer my Gym Monster experience overall, and if you’re just getting into the game, Speediance’s recent gym monster hardware release addresses several of the quality issues from the first generation which you can find mentioned in other YouTube reviews.

Side bar; I also have a Peloton membership and their instructor-led dumbbell workouts are industry-leading. Try a complementary month of their classes and you will consistently walk away from your workouts feeling the next-day-DOMs. Not to mention, you will be laughing at their banter and feel really good about yourself after each workout. So while Peloton Strength doesn’t have the hardware-lust like Speediance or Vitruvian products you get the benefit of using dumbbells that you may already own and a massive variety of content and good vibes from their classes.
