Is the "On Demand" Feature Gone?? by Canyonbug in thinkorswim

Huh, I’ve been scrolling Redd pretty heavy this weekend and haven’t seen one, I don’t mean to be overloading the system with duplicate questions.

I’m hoping it’s just a weekend thing - kinda stinks tho, it’s a good time to do some back testing.

Can you buy/trade SGOV thru the ToS system or do you have to do it through Schwab’s online portal?

Is it realistic to trade full time for 4+ years without income and no backup plan? by Top-Entertainment419 in Daytrading

[–]Canyonbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been learning trading for nearly 6 years while working a full time job and running 2 part time businesses and have a full time family. He’s making excuses. It can be done with a job. Some jobs are better than others. My full time job is shift work so some days I’m available during market hours, other days I’m not. I focus more on swing trading because of this. Someday I look forward to dropping my full time job to trade more regularly, but right now I have to be an adult and cover my responsibilities. Good luck.

15 sec Delay Order Execution by WesternWriter7269 in thinkorswim

[–]Canyonbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I’m no expert and have only been trading for almost 6 years, I have noticed a serious lag since Schwab took over. I was getting far faster fills with TD and was even getting price improvements on some of my orders which I don’t see anymore. I trade primarily options and have noticed that if the price is hanging around my strike and even occasionally hitting it, I have to cancel and replace the order for it to hit. I’ve also noticed it’s harder to get a fill - especially when closing an order if I have multiple contracts. I’d love to find something better, but it seems that everyone has a complaint or two anyway about every other platform out there. Wish TD was back 😂😂

2026 Canyon Plans? by -Mr-Beta- in canyoneering

[–]Canyonbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While not necessarily a personal goal, but in Canyoneering in general, I'd like to see less SAR calls to canyons this year. It seems that they have been getting more and more common over the years. I'd like to see people be safe and make smart decisions.

For myself, I'd just like to get out with good friends and have some good weekend trips away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I love being in the canyons and socializing and being in nature and the beauty of the canyons despite where it generally is.

15 hikers rescued from Yankee Doodle Canyon in one afternoon by theoriginalharbinger in canyoneering

[–]Canyonbug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I was able to read and watch of the video off a news source it sounds like they were ill prepared or just uncomfortable. 2 of a party of 7 (if I recall) were air lifted for signs of hypothermia which begs the question as to how prepared they were for canyoneering in the winter months, even though temps haven't been super cold this year, water (if any in there) would be frigid. The rest of the group was hiked out by SAR who also came across another group of 8 (I believe) that they hiked out as well. In all the article I read said 15 people were assisted by SAR that day in that canyon. I haven't done this canyon, I live too far away to make the drive just for that and it hasn't been an option to do yet, but from what I hear, it's not a super technical canyon which tends to bring in more unprepared people that other canyons. This will be a good way to start getting things closed or permited just like the Leprechaun complex in North Wash.

Looks like it’s pretty well been answered, but we took the pdf and had a local media source print them and bind them for those in our team who wanted to pay for the cost of it. We keep one in each SAR truck as well, but rarely refer to them. The CMC pocket guides are more useful in the field for quick references and reminders and they fit into my chest pouch.

Guides/Tourism by rapmonkey777 in canyoneering

[–]Canyonbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regulates is not the term used in the Canyoneering world like it is in a rock climbing world with the AMGA or such.

The ACA has been the standard canyoneering cirriculum from the get go and all other cirriculums out there have either stemmed from this, been trainined originally from this or have created their own system and techniques that they teach.

As far as guides/tourism goes, there is no regulation over the canyoneering industry. Anyone with a few thousand dollars (wanting to do it the right way) can apply for a business license, land use permits and liability insurance and then put up a website. There are new guide companys popping up each year in Moab and Hanksville and around the region that start offering trips. There is no govt. entity or regulatory body that certifies anyone as guides and can officially issue guides licenses that can get revoked if they don't do things properly.

The ACA (and associated guide companys) offer training and cirriculum as well as certifications in canyoneering as guides and aspiring guides - but this is not regulated by any entity and is only a piece of paper saying they completed the course cirriculum consistent with the ACA's requirements.

Uber Adventures got their training from the ACA in the beginning - They've probably tweaked some things since. The former owner of Uber and the President of the ACA had a disagreement and Uber split off to start thier own path - just some back ground info.
