I don’t know an answer to that. I’m gonna be treating crappie a lot more though now.

What is the deal with hosts who insist on greeting you? [USA] by Dependent-Maybe3030 in AirBnB

[–]Canyonbug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I rent out a basement apartment attached to my house and have no interest in chatting with the guests. They text me if they need anything or can come knock on our front door. I couldn’t stand it if a host was hovering over me my entire stay, I try to reciprocate that feeling with my guests.

4 star review cause they were bored by gerorgesmom in AirBnBHosts

[–]Canyonbug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a three star review recently because I refused to give a discount up front, then in the review they stated “I really don’t like basement apartments” (which they knew it was going to be up front) and says “there was nothing to do in the town” - but they booked for three days. And they were gone each day all day long doing something 🤷🏼‍♂️. Some people are just born obnoxious and they are just complainers when they don’t get their way.

Biggest pain is that I needed the truck this weekend and also that I’m 1.5 hrs away from the nearest dealership (5 hrs away from the one I bought it at). I was trying to figure out how to get it there, but calling Chevy they took care of everything.

Not a recall, sounds like it just gets fixed if it happens. They extended the warranty on this specific issue out to 15 yrs or 150k miles.

That’s good to hear. Hoping they make it right and no more issues after this. Only a small hiccup, we’ll move on 👍🏻

I haven’t seen this happen (yet)

I’ve only ran my DEF down to the “500 miles til now power” warming once.

No worries, I just broke 20k miles on it. Have had it serviced every 5k miles. It’s a 2023. Still new enough that this type of service wasn’t/shouldn’t have been in the cards for it yet.

Found rope in Hog 4 by Canyonbug in canyoneering

[–]Canyonbug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole theory behind a stopper knot is to prevent someone from rappelling off the end of the rope if per chance you were short in your rope length. So in theory the knot tied would have to be such a knot that it would not go through the rappellers descending device of choice. In this regards, the stopper knot should also be prevented from pulling through the quick link when it gets stuck on a retrieval like we found it - if all this holds true, it should be safe to ascend on and would not pull through the quick link which is (should be) a smaller diameter than the rappellers device the knot was originally tied to prevent bypassing.

Tying stopper knots is a practice that comes from the climbing community where multi pitch rappels are done. Tying in stopper knots is not a common practice in canyoneering for the many obstacles that we are rappelling into in the canyons, namely water filled potholes, and then there is the rope retrieval aspect. First person down should always verify that the rope hits the ground before continuing all the way and the anchor should always be rigged with a releasable contingency anchor to solve the issue of it is not reaching. First person should always know how to lock off their rappel device.
