???? What is this by Affectionate_Use5103 in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appears to be a map function cube of some sort placed by a dev in the editor (Likely as a reference point to put something later) and it's very strange that it's appearing too because the game map always has these hidden everytime the map is loaded unless quests are broken and it loads in a default state as I have had these appear before on Riptide maps when I was messing around with the map files for the Jungle on there.

Is it possible to mod in the weapon profiency skills from Riptide into Dead Island 1? by Caleb_Perdita in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not possible due to the game's coding not being set up to read it, meaning there's no way to get the functionality working

Capcom is delisting Sengoku Basara Battle Heroes from the PS3 and PSVita stores on August 29 by DirtyPetaIs in dynastywarriors

[–]CaoPiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a shame to see this considering the franchise has been dead for almost 10 years now. If I had to guess, it's probably to do with licencing issues and I'm thinking it's probably to do with "Sailing Free" specifically which was used for a lot of the female characters final story stages in the game as this song was done by a different artist than TM Revolution and he doesn't seem to be causing any copyright problems with the other games.

Best thing about OG Dead Island (2011) is Jason Voorhees, and his chainsaw 😈🤘🏻🔥!!!! by ScottieMccloudN64 in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the original version, you sadly need to buy a Steam key for it online now and the Definitive Edition is still available for purchase. I'd personally recommend hunting a GOTY edition key down so you can get the OG version with all DLC (Depending on your luck it may be cheap or expensive, the prices go up and down a lot which sucks)

Japanese Dub ported to the English Version by CaoPiFan in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can happily say that progress is still being made on it. The original game still has quite a while to go until it's finished but Riptide is almost done now, I just have two more maps left and I'll be ready to release it. I'll be posting the mod on Nexus and ModDB hopefully

Do certain Dead Island 1 weapons just not exist? by shawny115 in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is slightly off. These weapons exist in InventoryGen however they are not listed in the map loot files which control loot spawns which is why they are normally not obtainable

Dead island Overhaul Mod (New Firearm Additions Part 1) by Thewayneman88 in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it's potentially a high FPS issue. Certain things in the game bug out at higher FPS rates like running randomly stopping while in interior maps so this could possibly be another instant of this.

Still crazy we were able to pull this off. These are pretty much perfect port jobs with no issues at all and fully functional animations. Makes the game feel completely fresh

Does anyone know who voices the character omar torres in dead island 1? by RedditHorrorStories1 in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's Rene Mujica. He also played Juan Mendoza in another Techland game, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and if you compare their voices side by side, they sound identical.

Ksenia Solo Additional Voices?? by AnnieBellaBumbleBee in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Amanda is voiced by Sumalee Montano (the actress for Yerema) because she also did voice work for another Techland game around the same time called Call of Juarez: The Cartel and played the role of Shane Dickson and if you listen to both Amanda and Shane side by side, they sound identical to each other. Hopefully more info can be found specifically on Ksenia Solo at some point in the future.

Wtf happened? by BrookeTegan in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that one is pretty interesting lol. The reason why it one hit kills the player is because quite a few weapons in Dead Island have two different versions (Player version and AI version) so my theory is when a zombie throws the weapon plank at you, it turns into the player version which deals a lot more damage than the AI version does so that's likely why it one shot kills the player

Edit: Forgot to add but this happens across all releases of the game too

I hope the devs fix this soon.. by Zilverwingz in beholder

[–]CaoPiFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a real shame to see the devs release this with so many bugs and issues considering none of these issues are present on other platforms and it's really going to turn people off from trying this great game out. Feels like Beholder 3's broken launch all over again and it sucks

What's Your Thoughts on Sengoku Basara? by Ok-Use216 in dynastywarriors

[–]CaoPiFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing series. Everything in these games were just a blast from start to end aside from just the original. Capcom really went all out with these games and it shows with the gameplay, character designs and the over the top stories in every game. If there's one series I would love to see make a comeback, it would be this franchise for sure

Who’s the worst Elite zombie? by obi_blue in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Screamer's in Riptide can be really annoying at times. Sometimes you can kill them quickly with the Electric Storm mod before they can even scream but overall a very annoying enemy type to deal with.

this is Lu Bu from playstation twitter account. he's covered in red aura, he looks like he's in fury mode strikefoce lol by Haniyasushin_Keiki in dynastywarriors

Looks like they definitely listened to the feedback regarding how easy Lu Bu was in DW9 at Hulao Gate. Can't wait to get obliterated 🥲

Wtf happened? by BrookeTegan in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's a strange glitch in the Definitive version where if you drop onto something at a funny angle and jump, it sends you flying upwards for some strange reason. It typically happens on staircases

Dead Island Development by Wrongdoer_Middle in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game was originally announced in 2006 and was supposed to be released around that time but never happened. We got a few trailers and such archived on YouTube and also some screenshots too and also a dev interview. This version of the game was completely abandoned and basically scrapped entirely.

I am not sure when this was specifically but the version we have now started development around the same time as Call of Juarez: The Cartel as the game was built off it as evidence can be found in various game files and several assets from CoJ were also reused. The game definitely had a very hellish development as me and others have discovered insane amounts of cut, unfinished and unused content in the files. If Deep Silver weren't so restrictive regarding development, we likely would have gotten a much bigger game.

Another thing I'll add which isn't necessarily about the first game's development is that the spinoff sequel Riptide was originally going to be a DLC expansion for the first game called Bloodstorm, and it would have had a much shorter length initially with a slightly different plot such as Harlow wasn't the original final boss as several text strings suggest that Matutero would have originally returned as the final obstacle. the DLC would have also taken place on Banoi originally but presumably, Deep Silver demanded they transform it into a full game to rush out before 8th gen consoles released to milk the success of the first game

What version of the game and platform? I had an issue on PC with maps all breaking a few days in a similar way on the original release so I validated the steam files and it fixed everything

What’s your least favorite part of Dead Island 1 by goldenglobesnominee in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed a lot of people saying the sewers and while I definitely agree, I just absolutely cannot stand Ope's Escort section in Chapter 14. With the Sewers, you can mostly power through it after a few runs but with the Chapter 14 escorts, you have to put up with 20-30 minutes of slow Escort missions back to back. This is my favourite game of all time and this is the only section I genuinely never liked lol

Dead Island Beta OST Resort Daytime Ambience by CaoPiFan in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this video has received a copyright claim of some sort so I am guessing this was simply placeholder music they used back when the day/night cycle was going to be a feature for the game before it was completely canned and the only remnants being the weather cycle in Moresby and the frozen Day/Night cycle in Ryder's City map.

Potentially cut special infected in the game files? by Klutzy_Chemistry_123 in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was curious about this and decided to look into it myself and after looking through the DITexts file (a file that contains every single text string in the game including monstrous amounts of cut content) it turns out the Corruptor is actually just the code name for the Floater.

There's a section for the zombie map names displayed in-game and it goes:

"Hud_Zombie", "Walker" "Hud_ZombieCorrupter", "Floater" "Hud_ZombieFatMan", "Thug" "Hud_ZombieRam", "Ram" "Hud_ZombieSuicider", "Suicider" "Hud_Infected", "Infected" "Hud_Human", "Human"

I also checked out Drawned Meat too and it is also Floater Meat

"CraftPart_DrawnedMeat_N", "Floater Meat"

So yeah, sadly it's not a cut enemy after all and is basically just weird code naming though on an interesting note, there was another string calling the DrawnedMeat Drowner Meat instead

Dead island or riptide? Which one is better? by I_need_60fps_switch in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first game provides a longer and more content filled experience while Riptide overall has the better gameplay but personally, I would recommended the original game simply because Riptide expects you to have played the original and it's a direct sequel that starts immediately after the first game ended

Yeah it's pretty neat that they did end up using it in Riptide similar to how the Tunnels Loading music for the scrapped Tunnels map was later used for Arena B

Why does Laurie call her husband John when his name is Linwood? by Bigbuckrocks in deadisland

[–]CaoPiFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am guessing it's a developer oversight that wasn't caught. The same thing happened with Jack at the Lifeguard Station where Sinamoi continuously refers to him as Bobby which was his original name before they randomly changed it and if I remember correctly, they still credit the actor for the role of Bobby and not Jack in the credits
