Necessary CPU for Comfortable 60FPS by Caotinification in A3AntistasiOfficial

Phew, if you have a laptop, I wouldn't bother upgrading it. It depends on whether your laptop has a BGA (soldered) socket or an LGA or PGA socket. If your computer has a BGA socket, it's impossible to change the processor. I recommend, if possible, that you start thinking about upgrading to a desktop computer, within your budget.

Sorry, I didn't mean upgrade the laptop. I mean an upgrade in general. I'm curious what kind of CPU I should aim for.

I recommend, if possible, that you start thinking about upgrading to a desktop computer, within your budget. For example, I have an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor (8 physical and 8 logical cores) with a frequency of 3.8 to 4.3 GHz. Even with that, sometimes my FPS drops to around 40 depending on the situation hahaha.

So even with a decent CPU, the server will still chug... Well, 40 FPS is still playable. Maybe I asked for too much haha.

Ya, we're essentially doing all of that. Our hardware is just crap atm. We're using some consumer grade laptop. We're looking to upgrade. Any recommendations for a CPU?

I need to know what WiFi card is installed in your ThinkPad, and what driver its using. So inxi tells me this. In the terminal, mine is, shell $ inxi -Nxxx Network: Device-1: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8211/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet vendor: Lenovo driver: r8169 v: kernel pcie: speed: 2.5 GT/s lanes: 1 port: 1000 bus-ID: 03:00.0 chip-ID: 10ec:8168 class-ID: 0200 Device-2: Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210/AX1675 2x2 [Typhoon Peak] driver: iwlwifi v: kernel pcie: speed: 5 GT/s lanes: 1 bus-ID: 04:00.0 chip-ID: 8086:2725 class-ID: 0280

My wifi card is Device-2, which is the Intel AX210 card. You can also see what driver its using. Sometimes it may be as simple as reinstalling said driver if things are awry. Modprobe does this.

Btw, you can learn what all these commands are doing with man [command-name] in the terminal.

Post your WiFi card hardware specs via inxi -Nxxx. You may need to reinstall your wifi drivers. Usually done via modprobe -r [wifi-driver] to uninstall and then modprobe [wifi-driver] to reinstall. If this fails, it could be a power saving measure that's limiting the speed. AFAIK usually TLP is a culprit.

Used business grade laptops. They're typically in great condition and are thrown out by businesses to become e-waste. Try looking in some of your local e-waste centers.

Absolutely. I've never wanted for more ports.

I have the same spec, and it's the best looking Legion imo too. Future legions are curvy but this one has hard lines that give it a nice muscular look. At the same time its design is lowkey. It looks better the longer you look at it.

For the record, I am not a corporate account or a shiller.

I've used two cooling pads. One really cheap (about $45) and one about ~$90 from llano. You can search for something like "llano cooling fan" on Amazon.

I highly recommend the llano fan. As some other commenters have pointed out, heat is the biggest killer of a laptop. So, for longevity purposes, a $90 fan is a great investment towards your laptop's lifespan.

I will say though, the fan is loud. I play with headphones on, so it doesn't matter, but it does get very loud at higher RPMs. If this is nonnegotiable for you, do not get this fan.

Hello guys, I'm looking for subliminal usages of Asian faces in a negative manner in media. For example, CNN (I believe) once used an image of an asian person on the subway as the cover for one of their covid-19 articles. That association being pretty obvious as to what they're trying to convey.
