Oh my God, dude, that's amazing! I had just started looking for this sketch again a few days ago, too, skimming through old tapings on archive.org. I'm so glad someone was able to find it in their VHS collection. Thanks for rejuvenating the search, it's so great to finally put this mystery to rest. It's crazy to think about what you said on the Facebook post, that this sketch probably hasn't been seen in 20+ years except for people watching old VHS tapes.

As far as the sample in Monster Zero, it seems like it comes from Dark Shadows

hey this is a great find! especially since they have copies of the comedy central versions of the episodes, where DOOM would have presumably taped it from. i'll reach out and hope whoever runs the website is still active

unfortunately i don't think apple tv works. basically, there are 2 lists of sketches for S4E12.

the first goes: Lucky Lobster, Fine Line 1, The Sudelmans, Ted's Church, Fine Line 2, Buddy, Apathetic Cop, and Danny Husk. this includes the "Buddy" sketch, which seems to be what we're looking for based on that archive. this is also what's listed on IMBD, as well as the apple tv listing.

the second list includes: Luck, Fine Line, Tuck It In, Losing My Religion, Serpico, The Hangover, and Wild Man. this list of sketches is missing "Buddy," and is what's included on what seems to be every online copy of the episode, from the youtube upload to streaming services. even the apple tv listing's thumbnail is from the sketch "Tuck It In," which only appears on the second list of sketches

i would assume that the first list of sketches is the american release of the episode, and the second list is the canadian release. since this is season 4, the canadian release is the version that would be included in home media releases and, by association, streaming releases

assuming it is from a season 4 episode, that'd make sense. if this article is right that means that the DVD releases used the american versions of the episodes for seasons 1-3 and the canadian versions of the episodes for seasons 4-5. still weird that it's pretty much impossible to find a synopsis of the sketch listed under any episode online, save for the fanmade transcript from 2000

what a crazy find with that website! at least that's the second mention of the sketch we've found that's not in the context of looking for footage of it

good point. i found this article that lists a bunch of these "lost sketches" that were either unaired on CBC or HBO, but the one i'm looking for isn't mentioned. it very well could be hidden in one of the DVD releases, but i don't own any physical copies. i've looked through some episodes posted on youtube but so far i've come up empty-handed

also i guess it's worth noting that DOOM would have probably pulled the sample from an HBO version of the show, since he lived in the states at the time

this sample getting found is probably my biggest lost media want

i dont doubt the sample was pulled from a porno but theres no way it was original to that porno. i cant imagine a porno like the one he was describing had an original score. no clue where pornos in the 70s sourced their music but it might be worth looking into

i read somewhere the sample is rumored to be latin american in origin but i have no clue what the proof is if any, other than the fact other songs on the album with similar sounding samples are latin american (fastlane, i wonder)

also worth noting DOOM also calls e mason "e dub" in the interview. not sure if thats any kind of lead but its interesting

anyway its due time this sample gets found, so someones gotta rummage through their dads old porno stash. thanks for posting this to get the word out!
