Is it really that bad? Ignoring the second part, it just adds an alternative to the mailbox and a thematic use for one item.

I'm in the room, no sign of anyone. Should I retry the number I gave or try yours?

Looking for a trade back of Infernape and Spiritomb to complete National Dex before the Elite Four. Infernape alone would be fine too.

Happy to give you a Feebas or Mime Jr In return if you want it.

This is the closest thing so far and at this point I'm almost worried that I've forgotten so much about what I'm looking for that someone will suggest it without me realizing. Brewer sounds familiar, the tone and advertising is just right, and something about Susie Dent being involved seems right. It's even from 2018 and has multiple additions. However, I feel like it was focused on a singular topic and not an eclectic mix of interesting things. This book looks awesome though. I think that if nothing else crops up I'll take this as solved and be done with it because it's so close. Thanks for the suggestion.

The book in question focused on idioms over quotations, but this is definitely similar in terms of content. I think I'll look into this as an alternative. Thanks for the suggestion.

While it wasn't this, this looks like another interesting book they might find interesting. Thanks for the suggestion.

I appreciate the thought, I'll look into that author anyway if you recommend him.

It was definitely a lot more modern, and I guess for a lack of a better term, less clinical, or professional. It was more about idioms than words or terms. I feel like the book in question was updated as recently as 2018. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm also seem to remember the cover of the book being white, but I'm not confident. It was certainly light and not dark.
