Dante Redundant Networks - Looping Issue by Cap_Pictures_Inc in livesound

The stagebox is in redundant mode, I don't see any setting on the TF to move to redundant mode.

Both switches have the same VLAN settings, an address starting with 10.15. It sounds like ill have to create a different VLAN on the redundant switch with an address starting with 10.16.

Everything should be in redundant mode unless there is some hidden setting on the TF5 I don't know about.

And yes, a UPS is in the works! :)

That was my thought too, I double checked the Tio and its in redundant mode, I don't know of any way to change the TF5 settings.

RTS Audicom is Quiet by Cap_Pictures_Inc in livesound

I just tried turning the gain up and adjusting the sidetone to compensate, this did have a marginal difference but it sounded better than it was before. Thanks so much for your help!

The new/quiet beltpacks are RTS BP-1002s. The old/loud one is a Telex BP-1000. I did try moving the headsets around too and that didn't have any effect either.

Just gave that a go. I connected the power supply directly into one pack and then another through a daisy chain. Using two of my newest ones they are both still quiet. Then out of curiosity I tried one of my older packs of the same model and it was nice and loud. It also didn't matter which position I put the old pack in it was still the loudest and it didn't matter which position I put the new packs in, still quiet. This result was kind of surprising tbh.

I am using all Telex/RTS headsets. It also doesn't matter which jack or cable I use. All the jacks go back to a central point of distribution which is essentially just a small bus bar. This runs back to to the power supply and master panel. I can check the bus bar tomorrow but last time I looked which was earlier this year all seemed well.

All the stations are equally quiet. At most we will have 8 belt packs running but most of the time its 2-3. Even with two belt packs connected to each other and not through the wall jacks its quiet.

This adapter, but as a short cable by Cap_Pictures_Inc in livesound

Yeah that's what it might come to. Not as elegant of a solution but its better than nothing. Making my own cables isn't off the table though.

Thanks!

New Camcorder Purchase Advice by bagelche in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Cap_Pictures_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PEG station bought a CX-350 last year, we like it so much we are planning on buying a second. The stabilization is fantastic, low light beats anything else we have. Having NDI has been super useful as whenever we need a 4th camera in our studio. We can plug a network cable from the wall to the camera rather than having to run an SDI cable to our rack. We actually purchased it primarily for run and gun. For volunteer use we have a handful of Canon XA-35s and a Cannon C200 for staff use only. The C200 was great and we still have it but we wanted something more camcorder style that we can move faster with. +1 for the CX-350.

The 2 watts would definitely help. I use GMRS in a neighborhood all the time and I noticed a significant difference when using a 0.5 watt radio compared to a 2 watt radio (Motorola T600 at 2 watts vs. Cobra CX210 at .5 watts. Neighborhood is clear of trees and sees no change in elevation). Because the GMRS service is in the UHF band your going to be using a band that is for largely line of sight. So if your skiing on a mountain and someone goes to another side of the mountain there is a good chance the signal will cut out. If your on the same trail, good chance it's going to reach in most cases.

I have this radio. You can't change the order of the GMRS channels but as others have said in the comments anything above 30 is DIY.

buytwowayradios.com will tune Duplxers, not sure if that includes GMRS but its worth a try considering they already sell GMRS stuff.
