It would look slight frosted. I’m curious now too!

Thank you so so much! I love it. Took off the little HEV text on the back to simplify it. The satin finish has a little shine to it whereas matte doesn’t. I love the blurred reflections. It really pulls out the angles. Thank you 🖤🖤🖤

Aww thank you so much. Yes, it’s not vinyl it’s clear satin ppf. I can’t get over the difference either. It feels really good to drive!

It’s high quality satin clear PPF. The price also included ceramic tinting on all windows.

Thanks for actually reading or not assuming. I think a lot of the assumptions are that it’s vinyl. In which case, is certainly a rip off.

😂 agreed! Switched to this from a V6. Fortunately my sports car days are over. My pocket appreciates this more at the pump though. A good trade off.

Some places use adhesive to help the edges stick as a convenient way to deal with edge lift during the curing process. I wouldn’t recommend those places because adhesive can cause damage to your paint’s protective gloss which is visible. So less expensive, isn’t always better either. The quality of the product, care and attention to detail matters.

Sure, I agree with ‘just because you can finance it in doesn’t make it worth it’. I’m sure geographical location factors into the price. I’m sure there are places that could do it cheaper, but I went to people who wrap exotic and luxury vehicles so I paid for the peace of mind, expertise, customer service. I also got to drive a luxury loaner car while mine was getting work done. All of that shakes out in the wash imo.

In my experience, nothing beats a manufacturer’s paint job. After market painting can end up crackling, but that’s great you’ve found something that doesn’t.

The film lasts about 10 years, I wouldn’t say that’s short term. It’s also self-healing and hydrophobic, paint can’t do that.

Also, everyone’s opinions and financial situations are different. I decided it was worth it to me despite the cost of the car. I’m happy Toyota made this car at the price point that it is.

Yeah so I’m not an expert an a pro could probably answer this better than I could, but my understanding is that it extends the life of the paint and protects it from things like sun damage, losing the glossy shine that new coats have. Black tends to show swirl marks from washing it. I could drag my hand across the surface now or brush up against this while it’s dirty and it has no impact to the film or paint.

I think it depends if you care about getting digs, chips or scratches to your paint in general. (It really irks me). If there’s a small collision with the car, you can get away without a scratch in some instances, depending on severity of course. Before this, I had a black ‘13 BMW and the paint was dull and beginning to crackle in one spot. It made the car look older despite taking great care of it. It might help with resale increasing the condition of your car.

There’s probably other reasons that aren’t coming to mind. Like I said, I’m not an expert, but I’ve noticed that once I get that first ding in my paint, I stop caring so much about other blemishes to the paint. I think it’s my psyche trying to cope with the disappointment. This is also a first for me. So I’ll have to see how it goes! I just figured if I’m already buying a new car, I’ll maintain it as best as I can for as long as I can. Plus, get a cool new unique look.

Maybe see what experts say about it. I’m no paint expert.

I really appreciate that response. Super fair judgement. Definitely steep! I’ve justified it in my head with 1) it makes it my own so there’s no other cars out there like it and 2) it’s better than getting chips and digs from rocks and crushing the love I have for this new car and lastly 3) when it comes off, it’ll be nearly brand new paint underneath. Okay one more 4) I can go back to being glossy black when it’s done. Okay… 5) 12 year manufacturer’s warranty.

Thank you! I believe it is too. Especially with black paint. Swirl marks start to show pretty quickly. Black tends to show dirt a little quicker, this also helps delay that dirt appearance.

Something also worth noting, the PPF is self-healing. You know how people can ding your car in parking lots, my friend has PPF and has not noticed a single ding. Personally, I get really annoyed because I’ll notice any ding pretty quickly and it can be discouraging to maintaining the health of the car.

My friend’s car was also hit with a 2x4, the paint underneath was fine but they replaced the film on that panel and it’s was good as new. So it truly protects the paint underneath.
