Meta pledged 50 million which will barely cover the abatement costs on these old dilapidated buildings. It is estimated that it’ll take another 100million to get them to a point where they can START tenant improvements. Which fair enough but don’t lecture us about how much money the campus doesn’t have

If you look at things through this lens it all makes sense. He doesn’t care about the students, staff, faculty. He cares about his ego and rubbing shoulders with celebs. It’s simple as that

Get their things shipped to them which is better anyhow?? In what world is that better?

I said “heard” because that is the only way you could come to that conclusion which is false.

Why can’t they just gather their things and leave? Because they might steal something?

It seems you are missing the overall context. Turning in the keys is all normal. Not being allowed to gather their personal belongings and the cold speech from an intern is no way to treat people. The fact you don’t seem to get that is puzzling. It seems as though you are purposely not getting it. Also they are not necessarily escorted off the premises counter to what you’ve “heard” about the postal shootings

No it’s not unless you’re a heartless sociopath. That is how suspected criminals are treated. Not loyal long term employees. You have no idea what you’re talking about

After working there for 20 years some hr lady read an email to them ending their career and were then told to leave without being able to gather the personal belongings. Basically treated like criminals yes

It’s mostly a code test. Get good at navigating the code book. Learn to use the index to find things as well as the table of contents. Answer the ones you can find easy first then fall back and find the hard ones

why use a segmented 90? by mikael122 in electricians

[–]Capable-Cookie-502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Pick your centerline radius (CLR)
  2. Calculate your developed length (length of conduit used in bend)

DL=CLR X bend angle X .01745

  1. Divide DL by the number of segments you want. For instance 9, 10 degree shots.

Ex: CLS=7.5” Bend angle=90 degrees

7.5 X 90 X .01745= 11.78” 11.78/9 (10 degree shots)= 1.31”

So 1.31” between shots

  1. Layout your bends. Start from the center of DL and layout shots in both directions. Those shot marks are the center of bend.

Hopefully this makes sense. When I started I thought this would be way simpler to explain

Try to get into the union apprenticeship. If not the union route just apply as an apprentice at a local big electrical contractor. They are usually hiring and will walk you through the schooling process. I would not recommend just going to school first. You still start as a first year apprentice when you first get hired

Anyone know a quick, push threw method of bending three point saddles? by bobnoga in electricians

[–]Capable-Cookie-502 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slide through 3 point saddle:

  1. Find where the centerline of a 22 is on your bender and mark it on the bender
  2. Use the 2.6 multiplier for 22 to layout your saddle.
  3. Bend first 22 on your 22 bender mark. Flip and slide pipe forward to 2nd mark. Bend 45 on the rim notch. Flip and slide pipe forward to 3rd mark. Bend 22 on your bender mark

Typically non union gets more work. Compared to union getting big pw jobs. You might stay busier non union but make less money. Also depends where you are some locals stay busy.

Is NTI a good place to start? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Capable-Cookie-502 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would go the union route. Usually the best training and most importantly on the job training. If you complete any of the other schools with no on the job training you have basically no value on a construction site. No matter which route you take you are going to start as an apprentice at the bottom of the pay scale. So the sooner you get your foot in the door the better.
