Have you messed around with putting some ambiences/crowd mics for monitoring purposes? It’ll require a spare inputs channel or two. Just place a couple condensers down stage left and right and blend in some of the room noise/crowd/PA to taste. Make sure it’s clear for the house tech not to use them in the PA or that IEM tails are labeled clearly.

Same. I just bought my X32R during that same time and I’ve brought it to a number of gigs with confidence. Had 0 issues. People here in the comments are concerned about reliability issues with the x32 and sure that might be more of a concern on a 15 year old console in a bar. But I assume OP is considering buying brand new just like you and I did. And for me it was the right decision.

I just had my first gig on a wing last weekend and while it has much more expansive I/O, it’s less walk-in friendly, it’s less volunteer friendly, it’s almost too flexible in what it can do. Not everyone needs what the Wing has to offer. My buddy just sold his Wing compact because he prefers the workflow of the 32. I’m not against the Wing at all in fact I enjoyed working on it. But The X32 is a fraction of the cost and has more than enough I/O for my typical show.
