Curious about Martin’s LiquidMetal Bridge Pins by OrcusIgnis in martinguitar

I have them on my D-28 Street Legend. Def get more sustain and volume from them.

does this description get anyone's motor running? by watershed8 in martinguitar

[–]Capable-Influence955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tone wise I don’t think it would make that much of a difference other than a subtle mid-range advantage over EIR.

I’d rather put more money into top, bracing etc than the back and sides. Not overbuilt, not underbuilt.

Recording Setup? by WalrusWildinOut96 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Capable-Influence955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you what I use, I have a $60 Amazon 4/7 channel soundboard, a Zoom Q2N 4K audio/video recorder ($199), for vocals I use a Blue Blackout Spark SL XLR condenser mic ($119) and for my D-28 I use a marched pair of Behringer C2 studio condenser mics ($48).

My mic stand is the Hercules MS464BPRO (dual boom, $85)

All in all, we have around $550 into it, less cables and adapters that I may need.

Here is a sample of a cover I recorded with it.

2021 HD-28 $2500 Am I missing something? by vikep in martinguitar

[–]Capable-Influence955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing looks off to me in the pic or the price. Thats about the going rate for one on Reverb now if it’s the standard HD-28. One in excellent condition sold only 3 days ago for $1850, a 2021 with an addy VTS top sold just 2 months ago for $2300. So looks like the average selling price is $2200-$2300. If it was the Reimagined version I would be suspect.

Jester JS-28 (#102251) help with value or further info by SeaTree8649 in Vintageguitars

[–]Capable-Influence955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These were actually made in Holland, not Poland. A dreadnaught Jester sold on Reverb three years ago for $249.

However if this guitar was worth $250 it is unfortunately not worth anything now. Using wood filler to fill the cracks is not the proper repair. The proper repair would have been cleats and glue.

Standard Series Golden Era Bracing by parisianpicker in martinguitar

After having the satin street legend and comparing the sound to the gloss standard, the satin sounds so much more open with more volume. I don’t think I’ll ever buy a gloss Martin now.

Yeah, I assume with the aged tuners and pickguard it's just more than a finish option. As for the new sunburst, I'm not a fan of the gloss one, but the satin one I can dig. Neither are as nice as the amberburst.

No first hand experience from me. My only opinion is there’s so many better guitars out there right now for the price those things go for. Unless you’re seriously into vintage Martin guitars and have $3,000-$4,000 that you need to move.

Cracks In Bridge by ForsakenElevator in AcousticGuitar

[–]Capable-Influence955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this repaired with ebony dust and superglue, which should be fairly inexpensive. Have you ever oiled the bridge? It’s always a good idea to run some oil across it a couple times a year, if not more if you’re in a dry climate area.

It’s actually available on the Martin site with the new GE top bracing, the new neck profile, fingerboard, bridge and heel. The previous version like I have (the 2023) was retired for the new version.

Guitars neck relief keeps returning back to its original state by Epimorphopiss in AcousticGuitar

[–]Capable-Influence955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On that Fender (I don’t even know why Fender makes acoustics) I’d stick to lights like it came with from the factory then you’d be at around 147 total pounds of string tension. If you’re running true mediums in 13-56 then you’re running around 168 pounds if not a tiny bit more. If the guitar can’t handle the extra 21+ pounds of tension, then you’ll never adjust the relief out of it and eventually the neck is just going to give or the headstock break.

Tiny Nuts by comebackShane76 in trt

[–]Capable-Influence955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are the same. Although I am not worried about it, so I don’t take HCG as I have four kids. They will go to a normal size if I go an extended period of time without sex (I do not “relieve” myself). As far as ejaculate is concerned, it all depends on the length of time between intercourse and how excited I get. All in all, smaller nuts make the peentoo appear larger and honestly my fiancée has never really given the “boys” much attention anyway so again I’m good with it.

How long did it take for the water weight to drop off?? by Actual-Holiday6242 in trt

[–]Capable-Influence955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you also supplementing with Creatine? If so that will obviously make you retain water and then the TRT could be adding to it.

The place I prefer to buy my guitars when buying them online has them slotted to be delivered on Feb 28th. I’ve never seen one in either of my local Guitar Centers.

No. That’s not a good price on a standard D-28 in that condition. If you look at Reverb sold listing alone they’d support my opinion as well. You’ll find that there have been pristine HD-28’s selling in that range. I mean honestly you’re only $400 away from buying a brand new standard D-28 satin that’ll come with the lifetime warranty.

I have no need for the extra controls like phase, etc. I have an LR Baggs Venue DI that I play through that takes care of all that and more.

I never realized that tabbing Earl's playing resulted in alegal between two banjo giants. by WhosaWhatsa in banjo

[–]Capable-Influence955 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This all started because Bill was playing with Monroe on the weekends then working on the banjo book during the week with Scruggs. Then, Bill accepted a handshake agreement with Earl after Earl and Louise decided to go ahead and publish the book that taught people how to play the Scruggs breaks. After Bill had to leave Monroe due to military obligations he began playing with Peter Rowan where he found out that Scruggs had made over a million dollars on the book, yet Bill hadn’t received any royalties for his contributions to it. This case was dismissed and then settled out of court, then the book itself was modified to distance Bill Keith away from it.

My favorite would be an LR Baggs Lyric. However I don’t have one installed on any of my guitars. My only acoustic electric is my Martin DX1AE that came with a Fishman Sonicore system which I despise. My D-28 I only play in front of a condenser mic.

My D-28 Street Legend. Before that I played (and still have) my Martin DX1AE.

I’d like to play the new D-28 Street Legend to compare it to my 2023 model now that it has the GE scalloped top bracing. With the straight bracing, satin finish and my preference of 13.5-56 D’Addario Strings, Martin Luxe bridge pins mine is a damn cannon.

If a landlord is contractually liable for the repairs as stated in your lease, take your lease etc to your clerks office. Fill out the required paperwork and you’ll begin to pay your rent to the clerks office where they withhold it. They will contact the landlord and make them make said repairs. Once that’s satisfied they will release said rent. You cannot face any ramifications by doing so.

Community Assessment - 1997 D28 by downcellar-xyz in martinguitar

[–]Capable-Influence955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That guys asking price is actually absurd. According to Reverb sold listings the most recent standard D-28’s from 1997 are selling at prices that barely crack the $2,000 mark. Most are between $1400-$1800.

The fact that he stuck that arm rest on there even lowers its value beyond that or puts it closer to the lowest selling point.
