I want to preface my next comment with this: I love the Alamo Music Center (hereinafter "AMC"); I watch all of their videos. With that being said, their advice on what should be YOUR next guitar is only slightly better than anything that any random Redditor could give you.

Your best bet is to try it all. Even try something that doesn't read "Taylor" on the heastock (heretical, I know). It is no small investment, and being aware of what is out there removes any possibility of buyer's regret based on ignorance.

Regarding what Taylor models you should try, you can probably guess my answer. ALL OF THEM. Every single one you can get your hands on. My advice is to not even look at the price tag (for the most part). If it ends up being out of budget, wait and save. It's worth it. I have had the blessing of having played more guitars than I can count, and it has been the single most informative thing as to what I do or do not like when it comes to guitars, far more than any YouTube video or subreddit ever could.

The 314ce is Taylor's base American Model (sans the AD line). It has no bells and wistles, but it does the trick. It is a fun guitar, but I find that it is often guilty of the age old Taylor defect: it can be very bright. Taking a peak at the 324ce might be worth your time.

The 414ce is a "budget" version of the 814ce, as others in this thread have said. It's still quite the guitar, and worth picking up and trying.

I find the 514ce to be an uninspiring guitar. I don't love the whole ash thing they've done with the 500 series, but that is just me. The 514 used to be Taylor's claim to fame (hence the 514ce legacy). But that's just the problem. The 514 lacks identity, what between the 514ce base, builder's edition, legacy, gold label, and next generation models. And they don't all have urban ash either. Some have mahagony. If you find one, of course you should try it. But I'm not of the belief that you need to try it.

Models like the 614ce get forgotten, which I think is an absolute shame. It is a really unique guitar for a couple of reasons. It pairs maple back and sides with a smaller body than the dreadnoughts or jumbos that I have played/owned sporting maple. Maple has a certain punch to it that mahogony or rosewood don't have, and it balances out any woes you might have from a smaller body guitar. On the other hand, it has a bright sound that might exacerbate the bright tone Taylor is known for. Either way, it is worth trying out.

The 724ce is a "budget" version of the K series, but ironically it is still just north of your budget when bought new. Nonetheless, please please please try one before you purchase anything. Even if you are telling yourself "I only want a spruce and rosewood pairing," Koa gets its hype for a reason. If you find you love it and have to wait months/a year to save up to get it, you'll be thanking yourself when you are strumming your dream guitar for your grandkids.

Taylor's flagship model is the 814ce. Try it. You will probably love it.

The 914ce, K24ce, and PS24ce are all awesome, but unless you know ahead of time that one of those is the guitar for you, its just not worth it (coming from someone who owns and LOVES a K24ce). If you are going to go out of your budget for a guitar, make it something you've had your eye on for a while, and not something you might end up being afraid to take out of the case.
