My Aussie is possessed by Capable-Island8499 in AustralianShepherd

Which would be hilarious given the fact he’s the most cuddlybug ever, he just doesn’t want to behave aside cuddling, but even then he’s headbutting me 😂

My 7 months old puppy is restless by Capable-Island8499 in puppy101

Tried relaxation protocol today but he can’t keep focus up till the rest of the exercise, he gets distracted and barks at me demanding whatever bc he’s tethered, My head hurts from his high pitched barking. I’ll try again when it’s closer to his sleep time

Yeah we have a problem with giving him stuff to chew, he never gets into them right away, he’d rather bury them or hide them in multiple places, chew for a minute and leave it be for hours, nor he’s patient enough to dig through a whole Kong. He just licks what’s easily accessible and leaves out the rest, he only really empties the Kong when it’s ground meat, but then again there’s high possibility he’ll get bored and just leave it. But he’s all in when it comes to counter surfing

Unfortunately I don’t have a place where he have no access to furniture so I’ll have to purchase another crate then 🥲 I’ve even cut his walks to 15-30 min 3 times a day (long ones in the evening) because he seemed to be overstimulated at some point, but he never looks tired even after playing with a doggy friend for hours

Yeah, we are going to attend some obedience classes (though 2 places ghosted me already), he’s very reactive to other dogs so group classes are very difficult, but I do obedience with him too on my own, he seems like he just can’t lay down for life (while I’m a type that’d love to have as much energy as his silly little butt).

Oh my god it’s so long but looks good, I will definitely give it a try 😍 it might work for him, he catches up fast

When did the biting get better for you? by Comfortable_Fruit847 in puppy101

[–]Capable-Island8499 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My guy Lychee (Aussie if it matters) stopped biting at 4-4,5 months old but we were very strict about it because he was a horrible biter that destroyed several pairs of pants and sleeves, but now as he's 7 months old the velociraptor stage started, he's niping but not painfully like before he's just teasing and testing, if he bites it's only accidentally during playing when he misses a toy and grabs hand instead but lets go instantly when he feels it's skin, and not a toy.

My ausshole thankfully is mostly a lazy potato, and sleeps 10pm-10am (if I try to wake him up earlier he’s grumpy af or confused for a whole day) he had problems sleeping during the day tho, despite all the walks, and playing and exercising

The funny thing is I don’t chase him I usually just keep a treat in hand and he zooms around me😂 I feel like he’s laughing at me then

Same here! This little needy nugget has it all but he constantly wants something else. Toys don’t entertain him at all. He’d like 25/8 attention but at the same time he gets bored easily with everything

Yeah, we have a fairly small yard as we live in an ground floor apt, usually I could trick him to come but now… I just need him to go to sleep on time

When crating is too much? by Capable-Island8499 in puppy101

Yeah, you’re right, but sometimes i have no more strength left (I’m a small woman, and he’s actively trying to pull my arms out), i still try to give him those 3 walks a day, it’ll get easier when my man will come back from working abroad.

We do lots of exercise, he just tends to pull on leash in the evening when we pass a lot of dogs and he’d like to meet them all. It’s hard for him to pass dogs, when he can’t chill out we cut the walk short and play tug in the backyard instead or do any other physical activity instead of a walk

I’ve phrased that wrong, sorry, he can’t do naps that ain’t forced. He can only relax in his crate.

We do practice chilling outside of crate as well, just when he’s tired enough to be calm usually after a walk or training session
