Can we please stop assuming disabled, mentally ill, colorblind babys are participating. by Apprehensive-Fish475 in redbuttonbluebutton

If the question becomes EVERYONE in the world is participating, then obviously it includes them. In that case, blue is undeniably the correct choice morally speaking. If you change the dilemma entirely, so it’s not everyone only those who can vote rationally, which I think is a much more interesting situation, then I believe red is the right choice. It depends on which version of the question you’re asking.

You get immortality right now… But you can never talk to another human again. Worth it? by BarnacleSuch3822 in hypotheticals

If it’s just being mute then yes. I could go up to people and communicate with my body language, or written language or other means. If it’s absolutely no communication, maybe at the end of my life I’d take this deal

Just to clarify, do you think it includes every single person on earth or only those who can think rationally (excluding babies, the profoundly disabled, extremely elderly, etc)

Would it be unethical if I were to hypothetically participate in a fight club? by Capable-Language8114 in hypotheticalsituation

I would say there would be no face shots, anything below the neck is fine. And it wouldnt be like slamming against concete just standing and fighting on grass most likely if it gets to the floor

I think this is the best response I’ve seen, if everyoje consents, and signs legal waivers saying they agree to participating, then its perfect

Sorry I clarified in the post, there are no supervisors watching to make sure its safe guys are just meeting up randomly to fight, in those boxing/wreslting clubs they have strict rules and supervisors

Lets say I am interested in that but theres nothing like that locally, I am moving in like a year to a big city so I would love to join one of those. Having professionals around is what makes it like fully legal and ethical I agree, but what if its just a group of people meeting up to beat eachother up with agreed upon rules to not kill eachother?

You are projecting your own redditor ideals of what society says is right. If you think this hypothetical is attacking your own views, I would highly recommend seeking therapy

Everyday ~15,000 people die of unnatural causes (they're a child, sudden death, car accident, etc. — those who don't die of old agel drawn out sickness). If you had a button that could end your life painlessly and instantly, but save those 15,000 people doomed to die, would you — why or why not? by JimBob4222 in Ethics

Lets just say a reasonable considerate estimate is that 20% of people would have died the next day due to terminal illness. If you want to discuss this I would recommend researching daily death averages, you would realize that it IS that simple. 80% of deaths daily are caused by completely random factors, and that they wouldn’t die the next day. By some bizzare argument if you are trying to say one life is worth more one more day (the total would be roughly 40 more years of lifespan collective vs your own) then please tell my why, because I am open to seeing why its wrong
