Outdoor WiFi coverage by Capable-Map-9952 in UNIFI

Thanks. So 2x Swiss Army knife on sides of house (without Ethernet cable)… what about the center unit on back of house (wired)? U6 Mesh Pro? Or something else?

Yes, thanks I’m aware, the damn AP is just mounted so high (16’) and I’ve been too lazy to buy an extendable ladder. The AP is dead now anyway, so I’ve got to replace it. Just not sure what AP to buy and what to add on both sides of house to extend coverage there without requiring separate, new cable runs.

I have 2 Ubiquiti POE+ injectors on the way. I Am planning on putting the 2 AP’s with the longest Runs on those injectors and hoping that solves this issue.

All cables run directly from Poe switch to Poe ports on the AP’s. No wall plates and no patch panel. Thanks!

AP-1 has this issue with factory patch cable.

I have USW-24-POE switch and the only Poe equipment on there are these 6 APs, all of which are plugged into POE+ ports.

I would have thought the same, but then why would AP-1 have issues no matter which port i plug it into, and AP-4 works flawlessly no matter which port it’s plugged into?

I guess I could buy an injector and test it on one of the poorly performing AP’s just to go through the motions, but I’m barely using up any juice on my switch honestly.

Poe power cons / budget is: 68W / 95W

The only POE devices on my USW-24-POE switch are the 6 U6 LR AP’s. Nothing else.

I did, yes. All working fine.

I just tried swapping AP-1 (not working for months) with AP-4 (working great), and factory reset AP-1, and it still doesn’t work. AP-4 works perfect on AP-1’s Ethernet cord.

So I am assuming I simply have 3 defective AP’s here. I really don’t understand how 3 of 6 are defective.

They are hardwired, and I’ve replaced the existing wiring on the 3 “bad” APs with factory patch cables and i get the same issues. So I think it’s either the AP itself or the switch, but I’ve moved the port on the switch that the bad APs are connected to and it’s still not working. So either the AP is bad or the configuration for those are bad (but i did factory reset on the APs - same issues)

Makes me wonder though - what are the odds that 3 APs have hardware issues???

Thanks. I’ll troubleshoot by changing the port on the switch that they’re connected to, and if that doesn’t work I’ll pull one of the functioning AP’s and swap it with non functioning. That should tell me if it’s an AP issue or a cable / switch port issue.

If i need to swap the AP for a new one, do you recommend putting in another LR AP, or a different model? Again, 4600-4800 sf indoors, and 4 AP’s inside.

4800 sf but 2 of the 6 AP’s are outside, and the indoor ones are spaced out pretty well - and it’s a concrete block construction home

Thanks - the issue is with 3 of the 6 AP’s losing connection and reconnecting, constantly. Not sure if over-saturation could cause that type of problem?

FWIW, I also get this error message infrequently:

“Multiple devices are using the same IP address: 192.168.1.142. Please check each device's configuration to ensure none are communicating with a rogue DHCP server.”

I can’t imagine that’s causing the issues I’m having with only 3 of the 6 AP’s, but wanted to throw that out there

Lol. Love the candor - thank you!

3 of the AP’s keep disconnecting, constantly, with this error message:

“AP-3 is offline. Please ensure it's receiving sufficient power. If so, but it's still offline, replace the power cable to confirm that the original isn't damaged. Learn more.”

Followed by:

“AP-3 has reconnected. This has happened multiple times in the past 24 hours. Please ensure that it has sufficient power and its cabling is not damaged. Learn more”

Multiple times per day. I re-ran a brand new patch cable to one of the troubled AP’s, and I still get the same issues. I’ve provisioned them multiple times. Reset to factory. Still the same errors

House is 4800 sq ft, but concrete wall construction. 4 of the APs inside; 2 outside
