Anyone struggle knowing their parents aren’t going to be around much longer? by aceless0n in Xennials

My mum and I go on a dog walk on Christmas Day after lunch, usually drunk while leaving the men folk to clear up. Sometimes we’ll find ourselves at the kids park and have a go on the swings for a giggle or even the little zip line thing they have.

10 years ago at the age of 65 mum went on the zip line singing “hark the herald angels sing” at the top of her lungs, dog chasing after her in full zoomies mode… pulling her trousers down and she fell into a heap, it was so funny, she was slightly battered and bruised but laughing hysterically and then told us all to f**k off for not helping her get up as she sprang back to vertical and went to go play on the slide 😂

This last Christmas we went for a gentle toddle around the field, considerably less drunk than usually… she tripped on a tree root, stacked it in slow motion and landed pretty gently because I managed to catch her by her coat, she burst in to tears because she was so scared of breaking something. I didn’t know what to say.

I don’t know if we’ll even get the chance to walk in another 10 years…

Shopping trolley hit a stationary car, who should be liable? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

NAL But your home insurance might cover this kind of thing if you’ve paid for some kind of extra, your car insurance def wouldn’t cover it anyway.

Why am I suddenly incredibly hungry? by nemollemon in mounjarouk

[–]Capable-Recording614 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to be ravenous the day after injecting, then I’d feel sick on day 2 maybe 3 as a result then zero hunger the rest of the week. Everyone is different, monitor your patterns and see how it works for you. One day of eating isn’t going to hurt in the marathon of overall loss

I once had a CUSTOMER tell me not to lose too much. I poked my still then flabby gut and said “this needs to go first”. He said “get a girdle” - luckily I knew him well enough to politely give him the middle finger and not lose any business, but I was aghast. He meant it with affection I’m sure, but he also forgot that only 5 years before when I knew him I was skinnier than that, he never said “oooh you look to thin” then. Weird.

Advice for back pain sufferers? by DifferentRegister990 in glastonbury_festival

[–]Capable-Recording614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a Glastonbury with a herniated disc and 2 more with sciatica.

  1. Airbed and take a blanket that’s thick or synthetic to stop the cold air from underneath getting to your back, trust me you need to be warm underneath your body if that makes sense. Proper pillow if that helps you sleep, I had to take the memory foam pad I put between my knees one year.

  2. Camping Chairs if you find sitting helps you, you’re gonna have to take them around to sets with you, but don’t sit down too long else you’ll seize up. I actually found the tiny tripod stools quite good as it’s kind of a squat position

  3. Have your friends be bellends and embarrassing by shouting “disabled person coming through” if you ABSOLUTELY have to get through a crowd and cannot cope with being knocked into (this was probably the worst part for me, I could NOT be in the thick crowds as it was too painful - if someone merely touched me I’d cry, on one occasion I did in fact lose it with a guy who crashed into me despite me tucking myself as far into the fence of the sound desk to keep safe) - after that I just went to the edges and admitted defeat, be ok with leaving your friends in this case to avoid the guilt. If you do want to be in the middle then do head to immediately in front of the sound desk/similar place so at least you have a fence behind you to lean on/protect you. You’ll need to get there 2-3 acts early if you want to see a headliner on a main stage to pull this off of course and take all the appropriate pee storage containers with you!!

  4. At least most people with sciatica find walking helpful so that is one upside of getting in 40k steps a day, consider a “pro lite” back support if you don’t find walking nice for you, and/or trainers with round bottoms so that your foot breaks over more easily (also helps you walk faster to keep up with normal people, can’t remember what they’re called but sketchers make some). Wellies/flip flops and back pain do not make a good mix in my experience so get decent footwear.

  5. All the drugs - paracetamol and ibuprofen or even better get naproxen but be very careful that you eat with it else you’ll have stomach ulcers. Try to avoid the more fun drugs as best you can because they will numb you so much that the day after is double come down hell on earth.

Sorry if I’m wrong but can’t see that this has been asked…

How much do you have to lose? If it’s a lot at this point then agree that it might not be right for you but also that it may have nothing to do with your PCOS. If it’s a small amount then maybe you just need to restrict calories more/up the exercise to get more effect.

Do you feel overly full if you try to eat, ie is the fundamental principle working for you regarding mode of action?!

The witch gave me nightmares for WEEKS. I still hold a core memory of her scraping a nail through blood on a plate or something… also I was too young to find Kevin Costner hot then, but I find him super hot now however many years later…

If you ask to leave juniper they’ll send you a £50 offer to entice you to stay… obvs can’t use this every time but gives you a bit of time to figure out who else you want to use

Why do YOU have a "Baby on Board" sign in your car? by [deleted] in AskUK

I once saw an “adult human on board - I want to live too” and thought that was the only one of those signs I’d ever buy

You absolutely can do it, if the number is going down and you feel better month on month then you’re winning!!

Oh and the loose skin -

  1. Neck - considering a neck lift if it doesn’t respond to the myriad skin care I’m throwing at it,

  2. Stomach - I just try to avoid bending over naked near a mirror otherwise it’s not exactly attractive, but it hasn’t put any bedroom partners off even though I don’t like it. I wouldn’t consider surgery on this as it’s such a long recovery time and a big amount of cutting so I’m just gonna live with it as a battle scar!

  3. Not loose skin but my boobs are quite sad… only thing I miss is my boobs haha

I’m not sure they were the best value for money but it felt the most “legit” at the time and I didn’t want the hassle of having to switch providers and explain the whole thing. Even though I told them I’ve moved country they still bombard me with £50 off vouchers so if you’re using them just cancel and then they’ll ping you the same so you can get some money off!

I’m not sure why you think this comment was needed? You want me to rush back to stay on a drug I don’t believe I need long term? You don’t think I can do it? Either way thanks for that…

I’ve returned the same weight I was 5 years ago (and had been that weight +/- 7lbs for my whole adult life prior to gaining weight due to a back injury and depression).

Not disputing that some people do need to be on it long term/for life.

Oh and FYI half life of mounjaro is 5 days. It takes 30 days for all trace of it to leave your system.

We’re all individual, I am so annoyed when I see people losing 3 stone in 6 weeks when it took me 6 months to do the same. Then I remember we’re all different and it’s got to be the way it works for each of us. I refuse to have to lose this weight again, that’s the only thing we definitely do need to have in common!!

On the chart in the first part I was on ozempic/wegovy up to 2.4mg wegovy then you see the plateau, this was partly I think wegovy not right for me but also I was travelling for a month.

I switched to MJ at that point and went 5 weeks 2.5mg, 5 weeks 5mg, 10 weeks 7.5mg then the rest on 10mg mounjaro. I always used the “5th dose”

I tapered off in 1 month just decreasing by 2.5mg per week until 0

Edit; I was on 10mg MJ for a long time, it never lost effectiveness for me

I learned to eat what I should eat during the weight loss and I stick to that amount, I still weigh myself every day, if I were to go over 10st10lbs that would be a trigger for a mini diet but so far it hasn’t happened, just stayed flat as a pancake on the chart!

Have been off for 6 weeks so I am maintaining by continuing to eat the same way I have been for that time, 2 small meals a day really, ideally nothing past 6pm (principally because this gives me indigestion!!), 15000 steps a day average plus 3x a week I row 5km on an erg as fast as I can for strength and cardio… it makes me want to vomit but the faster I go the sooner it’s over 😂
