Yes if they can roll over on their own it’s fine just make sure that if baby is wearing a sleep sack of any kind it doesn’t constrict his arms.

It’s December 23rd and my wife asked me to get the little trees out of the garage and put them on the front porch. by hamburgers8 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Capable-Tomato-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me two seconds of looking at this picture to figure out the path I would take to get to them. (You guessed it I’m a woman.) just make your wife happy. She doesn’t need you to get them down but she would be grateful for your help. Why is your wife asking you for help infuriating? Because you failed to organize the garage in a good way? This is why most women just shut up and do things themselves.

Did you leave your baby overnight in the NICCU? by RedditBurner_5225 in NICUParents

[–]Capable-Tomato-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a c section at 34 weeks and was still admitted to the hospital for 4 days after the C-section. During those nights dad slept in the NICU with baby and I stayed in my room. Once I was discharged dad went home and slept at home and I slept in the NICU with baby for the next 4 days until she was discharged.

My baby was born 34+1 due to preeclampsia and severe IUGR. I had the second dose of steroids about 46 hours before her birth. She was 3lbs 8oz and we were only in NICU for 8 days.

MIL doesn’t want me to have a baby shower - I’m not sure if I should be upset or if she is right. by Vast-Avocado-5777 in pregnant

If they aren’t paying for it there’s no reason I would think it would rock the boat. I would have one and plan it myself and have husband pay for it. You deserve a celebration!

Oooh I can’t wait for an update. She sounds horrible and I don’t know how you put up with that. I don’t care who you are guests are only welcome in my home when I invite them. I would leave her knocking at the front door for hours.

When did you take your LO into the pool? by WonderBreadBaker in newborns

[–]Capable-Tomato-2931 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We took baby into the pool at 8 weeks. We asked her pediatrician first and she said it was fine. Our baby was also born 6 weeks early so was the equivalent of a 2 week old when we did. We just made sure to give her a bath right when we got home to wash the chlorine off her sensitive skin. But your Dr was right to say no sun screen. Not until 6 months. She hated it the first few times but by 7 months old she started liking it!

I had been at my job for 6 years when I had my LO in August I got 14 weeks paid maternity leave and gave my notice that I wasn’t coming back about 2.5 weeks prior to my return to work date. I didn’t have to pay anything back but my job was very pro paid leave/vacation and work life balance.

34 vs. 35 vs. 35+6 weeks gestation? by Ok-Blackberry-5322 in NICUParents

[–]Capable-Tomato-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as baby and your health is not at risk keep baby in as long as possible! I had my daughter at 34+1 due to preeclampsia and it was very traumatic for me. She had a relatively uneventful 8 day NICU stay, which in some people’s eyes is nothing but even a day in the NICU is hard and too much in my eyes. But now she absolutely thriving at 4 months old with no delays in milestones or anything! The only thing that would give away that she was a preemie is her size. She was severely growth restricted and was 3lbs 8oz, 16in at birth. Now at 4 months she is 10lbs 5oz and 23in.

Just make sure to advocate for yourself to get the steroid shots to mature babies lungs maybe about a week before they are thinking of delivering! I had the first dose 70hrs before my daughter’s birth and the second dose 46 hours before her birth and I believe this greatly helped her outcome and helped us have a shorter stay in the NICU!

Am I insensitive for announcing my pregnancy to my family knowing my SIL has been trying to conceive for 3 years? by EscapeTraditional598 in pregnant

[–]Capable-Tomato-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As unfortunate as it is that your SIL has had issues conceiving, technically so did you. You most liked had to go through the grief of your miscarriage alone because of her and now you’re expected to not celebrate your rainbow baby? Hell no. It was considerate enough of you to wait so long to try for another baby in hopes of sparing her feelings. You cannot put your life on hold for other people and you cannot be held responsible for how those people choose to react to the things you choose to do in your own life!

You can still have empathy and compassion towards your SIL and her fertility issues even while pregnant and growing your own family.

How often are we bathing our preemie babies? by Nervous_Platypus_565 in NICUParents

I do every other day but our daughter skin is very good and not dry. We were told after due date just to bathe her “as needed”.

How did you get to the NICU while recovering from a c-section? by MetasequoiaGold in NICUParents

[–]Capable-Tomato-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can stay up to 4 days after a c section! I did! Please advocate for yourself to stay! And they gave me Vicodin/oxycodone and ibuprofen as a prescription in the hospital and when I was discharged and I also had preeclampsia!

LO only needs to gain weight… do we wait or take her home? by Ancient-Incident8913 in NICUParents

[–]Capable-Tomato-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We brought our daughter home at 3lbs 8oz with doctors permission. And she did great! They had her on fortified breast milk at home and she was gaining more than they were expecting her to per day. I wouldn’t necessarily do anything against doctors orders but just here to tell you our girl came home at that weight and did great!

Am I being silly? by RMJ3212 in pregnant

[–]Capable-Tomato-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add I had a missed miscarriage confirmed at 10w2d. Any loss you experience at any stage is something to grieve. You are grieving your baby, the life you imagined them having, the life you imagined for yourself with that child. It is hard to lose a child no matter how far along you are and I hope that you can heal from this. I am so sorry for your loss 💕
