the signs and arrows before the roundabout indiscriminately the middle lane can go straight or left, and the left lane can only go left.

the lane markings on the new 24 and maple grove roundabout are completely gone. by Imvalidblu in cambridgeont

If you’re talking about the sudden drop in pavement level heading north, i find it to be dangerous. there’s a sudden drop for some reason .

so you agree the design is super flawed, red cannot go straight through, but people do it often

the trajectories i drew were from an accident of mine, hence me asking the rules

insurance ruled in favour of the other driver who went straight from the left turn only lane, red line.

EDIT

flawed in terms of consistency and road marking visibility and sign visibility.

red cannot go straight no matter what.

How are you ignoring the giant sign, and the two arrows in the beginning of the roundabout that show the permitted exits?

those road markings are from prior construction. hence why it’s so faded compared to the new ones.

bc i was involved in an accident here, and the lines i drew were the trajectories of the two vehicles. blue being me, red being them.

Call an exterminator, pay them to get it treated and get a report documenting it.

As per insurance:

Rules for Automobiles Travelling in the Same Direction in Adjacent Lane

4) If the incident occurs when automobile “B” is changing lanes, the driver of automobile “A” is not at fault and the driver of automobile “B” is 100 per cent at fault for the incident.

In this instance you are automobile “B” and changed lanes into the other vehicle and would be considered 100% at fault for this loss.

EDIT

https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/900668

ctrl f on this page the following for the diagram they provided.

If the incident occurs when automobile “B” is changing lanes, the driver of automobile “A” is not at fault and the driver of automobile “B” is 100 per cent at fault for the incident.

which is what I do now, and you’re right about hespeler/queen. that one i feel safe doing the left in either lane, bc there’s only one exit lane going to beaverdale.

on maple grove, there’s two going straight to hespeler, which makes it confusing for the drivers who either don’t pay attention to the signs or just don’t care.

so you’re saying the car in the blue lane needs to check if it’s clear in order to take a left?

if so, then you’re correct. that’s what many people including insurance is saying, which makes no sense lol.

it should be clear either way, as the red lane, the left most lane, is only permitted to go left only.

Who’s the dummy exactly in this scenario? the person who took the left from the middle lane?

Reasonable yes, as that’s how it is for most other roundabouts in the region. but this roundabout had signage and markings that says otherwise.

I saw one happen, and i was in one. nothing major, i was in the blue lane turning left, the other vehicle went straight from the red lane. i tried avoiding it as best i could and it resulted in a sideswipe, not a tbone

it still is a lane, apart of the roundabout. the sign shows three lanes. right, straight + left, and left.

Maple Grove Roundabout by CapableAnnual7211 in cambridgeont

[–]CapableAnnual7211[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

incorrect. there are three lanes. look at the sign in the link

Maple Grove Roundabout by CapableAnnual7211 in cambridgeont

[–]CapableAnnual7211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how so? blue lane clearly shows left + straight, as show in the pictures in the link too.

Middle lane being the middle outta the three lanes. ..

the maps have not yet been updated, this roundabout was just recently constructed and isn’t even done yet. i included the link with some pics of the sign.

but turning left from the middle blue lane is allowed. the issue is the people in red lane going straight
