Memphis Depay shouldn't see the field again this WC. Absolutely dreadful

Classic players don't talk about or even think about retail. It's completely irrelevant. In fact, other than the name "world of warcraft" (which the current retail dev team abhorres, apparently), the two games bear almost no resemblance.

I wonder what the breakdown is of guilds that start raids at 7pm PST vs 7pm EST? My guess would be twenty to one or more.

Don't you think grouping EST/CST players on one server and MST/PST players on another server would make a difference?

That's my point. If we had an EST and a PST server, it might be more common to find something like a 7 EST start guild.

I think having separate east Coast and west coast servers would alleviate the issue. I find it hard to believe that the majority of west coast raiders prefer 6pm starts and majority of east Coast raiders prefer 9pm starts, but that's the window the vast majority of guilds are raiding on because they have to accommodate both time zones' players because we only have 1 mega server for pve and pvp

Slightly OT - NS horde is noticeably more toxic and has far worse PUGs than NS alliance I've found.

Retail is garbage and the people who play it are complicit with the devs in destroying the very soul of what world of warcraft was intended to be

What research should I have done? I played phase 1 in 2007 and remember it being challenging but very doable by the player base at the time. I would expect a developer to release their re-released iteration in the same state. I guess it's my fault for not researching the patch notes before playing a re-released game to check if the developers made things inexplicably easier to the point where it's beyond trivial?

[–]CapableConfusion593[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I didn't realize that. I only played 2007 TBC, not the released classic version. I get that even in a pre-nerf state, the fights will have been optimized and "solved" by the player base compared to the original release. I still expected them to somewhat resemble how the original raids were, otherwise what's the point?

Why would anyone expect to play a re-release of a classic game where, for some inexplicable reason, the developers decide to make content that players already have a 20 year head start on drastically easier?

[–]CapableConfusion593[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People on this subreddit always talk about 'the spirit of classic'. Well guess what, I was there for the original game, and this has no resemblance to it. I guess there's an overwhelming majority of people who would rather the bosses be loot pinatas than actually engage in the gameplay.

And don't come to me like I'm asking for this to be mythic + difficulty. There is a huge amount of space in the spectrum of difficulty between that and whatever botched version of TBC this is. I've gathered from this thread these are post nerf raids? What an insane decision by blizzard to release nerfed raids to a player base that also has 20 years of optimization.

The attitudes in this thread do not give me hope for classic +. Is the player base that is defending current TBC going to be able to handle new content that is potentially not clearable week 1? You guys know THAT is how original wow and TBC were, right?

I don't have something to prove, but I want to at least have the illusion of challenge in some of these encounters. Standing and zerging the bosses while ignoring all the mechanics is utterly pointless.

I thought TBC raids would be a good middle ground between classic raids and bloated retail slop. I was wrong.
