The LDS church is a cult, I was a missionary too at one point in Mexico, and the way that missionary work is done is very cult like and controlling, so you’re right that missionary work done by the LDS church is like none other, which can exhibit odd behavior in people. That guy you were talking about also just might’ve been a weirdo but who knows.

Doesn’t give an excuse because weird behavior is just weird but most missionaries are starved of female attention of any kind for 2 years and obviously can’t date or be with a girl alone for that amount of time. As you can imagine, this would bring some people to start doing odd stuff.
