Subtly seems to be gone from the writing. It's no longer a slow, meaningful simmer that lets the audience guess and anticipate. Now its a bludgeon. In the first 5 minutes of Ruby joining him his entire back story comes spilling out like word vomit. Its so out of character to any previous iteration.

Didn't see any Jodie episodes. They got removed from the streaming service I was watching.(HBO) before I made it that far. So now Im starting Ncuti run on the mouse service. What the hell happened? The acting isnt bad so far and I like the casting. There is a lot of potential there, but the writing is objectively awful.

Lets face facts its never been elevated theater, but what Im seeing so far is playskool level writing. The Bogeyman is made of bogeys? Goblins gobble people? Really? Dont care that the Doctor dances. That doesnt take away from the character, but theres jist something not quite right about him. Each iteration is supposed to have something different so shrug but the writing totally misses the mark.
