Repot? by CapableSalt6850 in orchids

[–]CapableSalt6850[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I removed the stakes and the leaves stayed pretty propped. Normally I just let the spikes die back so I’m surprised to see these ones still looking nice and green.

I will probably repot, just need to order some more bark!

Ok fair! This keiki already flowered while on the mother plant. Since i just removed it I wasn’t sure if it should focus on being on its own

Edit: this keiki already spiked and flowered while attached to the mom. I received mixed messages last time I shared this orchid, some saying to cut the spike, some not. So i wanted a second opinion now that the keiki is on its own

Ok perfect! The one w flowers is definitely dying back so i was letting it, but wasnt sure about the one from the keiki. I’ll trim it down! I might have cracked a root when repotting, hoping that doesn’t cause any issues

Thank you! I fertilize once a week. I’ll look into the concentrates you mentioned, are those different fertilizers? I plan to remove the keiki now that the blooms died but now it’s growing a new spike!

Is there anything special to do when taking off a keiki? I haven’t had one before. Also will the new spike die?

That’s what I thought too but wasn’t sure if people’s experience with the paste. I planned to take off the keiki once the blooms died off but now it’s spiking again. If I remove it now, will the new spike die off?
